What’s the current policy for Costco to get best rewards? Can I still book myself because I’m picky on room choice and then transfer to Costco for full rewards? Has that changed?

Why not just work with Costco to get the stateroom you want? 🤔

Because on opening day, it is much, much easier to book online directly with disney than waiting on the phone for hours with Costco. You have to wait for a Costco agent and then they have to wait for a disney agent. All the while, others are booking the cabins you want. And, the price would be going up!

I just booked the cabin I wanted on opening day for our October, 2021 cruise. Then, when things calmed down, I called Costco. They sent me a form to fill out and the booking was transferred to them. I got the cabin I wanted. And got all the extras for booking thru Costco. And no long waits on the phone.

You can book online at http://www.costcotravel.com ; I didn't go all the way through, but I was able to select cabins online.

AFAIK they only will show up on the costco website when it is released to the general public. Costco can't access Disney's Castaway status to allow you to book online on their own website earlier than that.

I saw no mention of opening day in the OP.

Yep. Just assumed since the new cruises are about to drop that OP was going to book one of those. Or try to.

you’re right. I’m Gold and hoping for 8-night Magic to Sicily and Greece on 6/10. 🤞🏽

And to make it worse, Costco only opens at 7:00 am West Coast time, two hours after the phones open on the East Coast. So not only are you set back two hours, you have to wait in the Costco queue and then they wait in the Disney queue.

We have to do this to move our reservations so we don’t lose the onboard booking credit.

If I have a cruise booked with Costco for this August. Because I think that will be cancelled, I want to book for summer 2022. With my Silver Status I can book on the 24th with Disney. If I call Costco when everything calms down, can I change my reservation over to Costco and use the deposit from this August to next summer's cruise?

I believe you would get a refund from the canceled cruise and have a separate deposit for the new cruise. Make sure to move the new cruise to a travel agent within 30 days If you want to use one and get any booking benefits.

What are the benefits of booking through Costco? I also like the freedom to book myself without waiting for a travel agent to get around to it but I would also like some of the freebies that travel agents provide (onboard credit, etc.) If I can do both that would be amazing!

They give you cash back in a Costco gift card (can't recall the percentage - I think it varies by cruise line - it will tell you when booking, but is around $600 for an $8k cruise). And you can get your 2% back if you have an executive membership, and another 3% if you have a Costco credit card. It can be a substantial amount back.

when I have done in the past, I received a meaningful Costco cash card and my 2% rewards on the cost.

Thank you for that. I would like to do this, what do I need to do to transfer it over? Just call them and tell them that I have an existing booking and would like to transfer it to them? Any tips would be apprecitated,

Thanks again

Call Costco Travel within 30 days. There is a form you fill out. I recommend waiting until next week if still within 30 days because their phones are jammed because of the new itineraries.

yes within 30 days of making reservation you call and they’ll tell you what’s needed. I am Gold so book tomorrow and plan to call this weekend or next week to transfer.
