We were recently told that children no longer get free refills on milk or juice. They get the same refills adults do. Please remember that we are following the rules if you are charged for a refill.

Have a magical day!

Guess you didn't notice my signature, but to answer your questions it was my manager and it was at work. I'm a CM:)

Sorry I don't read signatures, too many and too much at times. ;)

When will this take affect?

I just went under the Dinsey Dining Plan and it does say "•1 single-serving, non-alcoholic beverage". I wonder if the single-serving means no refills. I guess this would go for coffee and soft drinks as well, for adults.

No.....coffee,tea,hot cocoa, soda and tap water are all refillable. This actually went into affect in January but is being enforced heavily now and servers must abide by it company wide.

Do you mention this to the guests? Sometimes my DS asks for refills on milk when he only wants a few more sips. Its a shame to waste money on paying for another one if he doesn't finish it. Thanks for the heads up!

Maybe I'm misunderstanding: Are we talking about TS? or QS?

If QS, I'd be surprised to learn that single-serving containers of anything were ever "refillable". I'd have to dig back into the archives, but the way I remember the DDP, back to the beginning, was that "refilling" of milk or juice as part of redemption of QS or snack credits was something that was never really intended to be - perhaps Disney simply allowed it for a while, despite it not being supported by the way the plan was offered, and folks over-exploited it, prompting Disney to crack down.

If you're talking TS, that's an interesting change. I have to wonder what would prompt this. It is small potatoes (as compared to no longer including appetizers, for example) and such that I would doubt they'd make such a change unless there was some abuse-vector involved. Were TS restaurants serving containers of milk/juice? Or, if they were serving cups, were some guests filling their own containers off the largess? Either of those situations would make this change make a lot of sense.

Just how long will it be before this will apply to coffee, tea, soda, ect.

I don't think that is a concern to be honest. Milk and juice are more costly items and if you look at the drinks dispensers in the resorts, those products are not available for help yourself so I would take that as a cost decision and nothing else. Here's hoping :)

Since the OP is a CM at Kona Cafe, I took it to mean TS. And I'm not surprised considering the cost of milk these days. I know of many restaurants that do not give kids refills on milk anymore. The price for them is just too high.

We were just there yesterday, ate at CR restaurant and got free refills on milk and orange juice for our kids. Guess this is not consistent around the world yet.

I'm not clear on how this is a change to the dining plan. Were free milk refills only being given to children on the dining plan?

Trying to decide whether to move this to the main board or not.

I'd take this post to mean no more free juice/milk refills at Kona Cafe. Other restaurants may not have gotten the word yet or may not be enforcing.

By CR do you mean Coral Reef or a restaurant at the Contemporary Resort?

If you meant the resort and the restaurant was Chef Mickey's (with characters) then I can see why you got the refills as these beverages are included with the buffet price. If you meant Coral Reef or another restaurant at the Contemporary, then I agree with you about inconsistency! :goodvibes

This is TS in every restaurant in WDW not just Kona. It doesn't matter if you are on the dining plan or not, except if you are on the dining plan then you will be charged for an extra drink that will have to be paid OOP.

They are really trying to crack down and be consistant throughout property. Some restaurants Managers may be enforcing it more throughly then others but they are all trying to get on the same page.

Milk and juices are more expensive then soda or coffee/tea/hot cocoa

HTH

This doesn't change the policy of free juice/milk refills at buffets does it?

Sorry. Coral Reef not a Comtemporary restaurant. At Coral Reef our kids got free refills on milk. Sorry for not being clear. Should have spelled at the name of the restaurant.
