latest castaway gifts

We are going on the western Caribbean on the Fantasy and I am wondering if I need to bring a bag suitable for castaway cay or if they are still giving a bag of some kind. Can anyone tell me what they got (for silver) very recently?

Anyone have a pic of the latest bag? I haven't cruises since late 2013 and we got the Gold rope handle bag, which broke the first time I used it. I'll be very glad not to get another of those! The sling backpack I've heard about on here sounds great but apparently unlikely for our August sailing on Fantasy?

If you are a return cruiser (Castaway Club member) you get a gift in your cabin. Currently it is a beach bag (seems to depend on the itinerary which bag you get) that you keep. You become a CC member after you complete your first cruise.

Since this is your first cruise you would not get a Castaway Club gift but it is something to look forward to on subsequent DCL cruises!

There's some variation on the bags being given out. For the most part it seems to be the one with the canvas (sewn in) handles, although some people have reported still receiving the rope-handled one. This is the canvas strapped one (platinum)

I wish they would go back to the red and black ones with the zippered top that they gave out from 06-09. We are still using those today (over 25 cruises), and they're still good as new.

I wish they'd have the blue backpack again. It was offered so briefly, we only got one. Or do beach towels (before my time, but I've seen pictures of them).

That is the only one we have ever received that hasn't since broken. It is still as good as new, while the blue backpack and beach bags have all broken within a short time.

I must have hit the jackpot and gotten the one sturdy rope handle bag -- I'm not being facetious, I've seen it mentioned far and wide how often they break! But mine has gotten heavy use for over a year now (I use it as my swim bag, year round) and it's still all in one piece. But I'd love something different on the next trip.

We have 3 and they are all still working. We use them to haul soccer stuff, swim stuff, baseball stuff.....lots of use...never had a problem. Loved the blue backpacks too! I don't have the towels!!! Now THAT is something I want......

If it is the same one as lollidrop got, I will be happy. It would make sense not to bring my own bag then, even though I got a very nice one from my DS and DiL? with the zippered bottom compartment and our name on it. It is quite large tho' for packing and then I would also have another new one to bring home. I will feel bad that I am not bringing it though.

We have two back packs and love and use both of them on all our trips, Disney and non Disney. When I cruise next year I would like to get the sling bag they give out on the Alaska cruises.

They've given out some kind of bag as far as I know since we've cruised DCL (2000). It changes but there's always a bag. So I never bring my own since I know that there'll be something.

We have 3 of those backpacks. They are wonderful! I use one as my playground/field trip bag at school. We have used one as our WDW bag and will be bringing a couple along on our next cruise.
