We usually fly in very early, but this time we are taking a later flight arriving in Orlando after 10pm. How will DME work? We got our luggage tags, but do we just unload our own luggage when arriving to BLT? Certainly they don't deliver to the room that late, right? :confused3
Thanks in advance!!

Flights arriving after 10pm...you need to retrieve your own luggage from baggage claim and then proceed to ME. It will be loaded onto the bus underneath. When you arrive at the hotel, it will be unloaded and there wiill be bell services available to take it to your room upon checkin if it is too much for you too handle on your own. If you can handle it on your own, just take it with you to check in. It's up to you. The only thing is just remember that it is customary to tip the ME driver for handling your luggage as well as Bell Services if they help you get it to your room. Hope you have a great trip!!

Don't put the luggage tags on; I don't know WHAT that would do, but it might confuse matters. Just get your luggage and have it put under your bus. (we found the porters hanging around the luggage carousel to be most helpful!)

We have done this twice.

First, DON'T put the yellow tags on your luggage. When you arrive at Orlando's airport, go to the luggage pickup area and retrieve your bags. Then go to the DME area. The driver will help you put all of your bags in the luggage area under the bus. When you get to your hotel he will help you get your bags out. You should tip the DME driver. I always tip $1-$2 per bag. Then you'll have to bring your bags into the resort with you when you check in. We usually just bring our bags ourselves to our rooms.

There is someone here on the transportation board who has posted a detailed map for me with specific directions on where to go for the luggage once you get off the plane, and then on to the DME. You see, you have to go to one floor for the luggage, and then another area for the DME busses. And if I remember correctly, you have to go a certain way through the airport BEFORE you take the elevator/escalator down. But believe me, once you get the directions it's quite simple. I'm directionally challenged and I managed to find everything. :)

Actually (from the Hyatt hotel end of the main terminal) you can choose to go downfield first and then take the escalator/elevator, or you can take the escalator/elevator first and then go downfield while on the lower level.

If you actually arrive after 10 PM it doesn't matter whether you used the yellow Magical Express tags. You would need to fetch your bags from the carousels anyway. If your airline's carousels are on the A side then you must return to the upper level (level 3) go across, and then down the B side. Depending on where the carousels were, you might be cutting across the Hyatt atrium or cutting across the food court.

Thanks everyone! I wondered about the tags...funny that Disney even sent me MORE when I requested them instead of letting me know about the late flight change in procedure. :rolleyes2

I hate when that happens.

Related story...in the early 90s I was working at a bar that had a smoking section. A group came in, sat down, requested an ashtray. I apologized for it not being there, went and got one for them. Went back to get their drinks, the bartender was looking at me really funny. I'd brought an ashtray to them...sitting in the NON-smoking section. Embarrassing.

Seems like the CMs helping you were having a moment like I had that time at the bar...acting on your specific request instead of stepping back to figure out if that was really what you needed....
