Late Summer/Early Fall Incentives

We had it for a year. I couldn’t see the point of it - and that was back when they sent you an actual magazine four times a year…
As a pin collector the cost per year is worth it for the special pin sets…I don’t understand why we can’t get a real magazine any more though.

You would be lucky to get BW resale @100 where are you finding BW @ 80 ?

Mid $80s... It was stripped of the current year points, and a 7+ months delayed close, which probably greatly reduced other buyers’ interest. The seller understood that stripping 1-year off a 2042 contract is a bigger deal than usual and was happy with the offer.

We have a September UY. If we were to buy AKV points, would we get Sept 2024 and Sept 2025 points? Or is that likely not something they'd have available for a sold out resort?

They have to.

Can someone check and/or correct my math on 150 points at AKV with a Sept UY please?

Offer price: $29,250
2025 dues: $1,447.50
Magical beginnings on Sept 2024 UY points: -$3,000
Renting Sept 2025 UY points (@ $16/point): -$2,400
Total: $25,297.50 or ~$168/point

(Are members even still allowed to rent an entire UY worth of points? I haven't followed along with the recent changes..)

In addition to the $500 DVC discount, I used it this year to get tickets to the reserved showing of the Walt Disney animatronic attraction at Disneyland. Of course those tickets cost money, but I was glad to have that opportunity.
I'm going to that event, too!

If you are local to SoCal, they do have quite a few events which can make D23 Gold worthwhile. Almost all of them at an extra cost on top, though. (Studio tours, film screenings, etc.)

A no brainer to buy for this year if you want the additional $500 off but harder to justify in other years if you won't or can't go to the events.

With the current rental climate I would not rent an entire years worth of points.

I lucked out and got tickets to Destination D23 for myself and my husband while we were sailing on the Treasure, my best friend who was sailing with us did not. She feels like she wasted her money so yeah the events seem to be a decent amount of what makes D23 worth it. Living in NJ I'm always jealous of the cool stuff offered out in California!

If you live where you have to pay income taxes, then the rental is less (assuming the $16 isn’t already considering it)

You can change to any new offers prior to closing

Agree - which is why i made the deposit last cycle to lock down the option of last cycle or this one depending on which is better. At this point, looks like last cycle is better.

Chatting with my guide, he does not think there will be AP/Visa/D23 incentives added this round because they were not released today.

D23 is available and the incentive details include it.

If he said no D23 then I wouldn’t trust him on the other two.

Hi all! We've been looking to add direct points for a while now, and it looks like now might be a good time. Thinking about 150 at the RIV. Some people in a DVC FB group were saying they got an email offering $1,500 off for Disney Visa holders. I'll ask a guide about it and report back! I have a Disney Premier and did not get that email.

We are going to Disney in August, and we might buy in person then!

Edit: the 1,500 is for CFW only, apparently, and someone posted it already in this thread! Sorry!

Your dues would be prorated. If you bought around Aug 1st, you’d only need to pay 5 months out of 2025. About $600, not the full $1447. This alone cuts about $5pp.

For renting out your Sept 2025 points, you could stalk availability for 150 points worth of desirable reservations Oct-Jan, hopefully get over $20pp, and the sooner those dates the sooner you’d get all that money in hand. This could potentially cut another $5pp.

We cut another $1pp by dropping Title Insurance. Something I’d NEVER do with Resale. But it only saves less than $200, so the time to study the subject until you’re personally confident to waive it on a Direct purchase is probably not worth it to most people.

Maybe closer to $160pp when all is said and done?

I got the email, but it was only for the cabins

Now, if it was $15,000 off - that might tempt me to rediscover my golf cart decorating skills.

I never bought the conversations about LSL being added to the same association/trust as the cabins, but seeing them starting to be aggressive with it, makes believe that it definitely won’t be the same. In my opinion they wouldn’t be pushing it if at some point those points would be the same as LSL.
That plus Lakeshore Lodge having its own cabins, which would get confusing. Fort wilderness may just be another Aulani, they can let cash rent and sell what they sell for the next 10 years.
