Our kids have been begging to stay at the Fort since we ate dinner at Trails End 4 years ago! We have also been bitten by the "traveling by RV" hug...just the possibilities of seeing the world with the kids is exciting! We are researching - with the plan to buy something next spring...any advice welcome...family of 5 - 3 kids.. 9,7, and 5 + 2 dogs. We figured now was a perfect time to rent a trailer (before we buy next spring) and have our first experience be at the Fort.
So, we have three time frames available for this year, 2014 - mid August, late September/early October or early December. Our kids love to swim, bike, fish..very interested in the archery and horseback riding at the fort as well.
We would drive in August, as we will be at our second home in South Florida. Would save us on $$$$on airfare, but I know how hot and humid it would be (at least we have a breeze on the water in South Florida). I think my kids would be miserable at the parks in that heat. Is it just as hot late September/early October? And is December too cold for swimming?
I know the weather can't be predicted, just trying to find the best time that would allow us to do all the outdoor activities and enjoy the parks without melting. Our stay in August can really be as long as we decide/can afford. The other time frames only allow us a week since kids will need to be pulled out of school.
Any thoughts from the experts would be appreciated! Thanks! Kids are super excited...truth be told, so am I!
