Late Sept Gotchas?

I have friends going for the first time with their two boys Mon Sept 22 to Fri Sept 26 ~~ can anyone tell me if there is anything going on at this time they need to be aware of?

halloween parties, meetups, etc?

The first Halloween Party is Friday, Sept 26th (I'll be there). It's sold out already, though. Park will be closing early for non party-goers, at 7pm.

I'd say the biggest "gotcha" right now is the weather. The heat is brutal. It's much worse than August was.

DCA closes at 6:00 on Thursday (9/25), which is somewhat earlier than "normal." So there is no WoC that night.
