Late seating question

Have you had positive or negative experiences by dining later in the evening? I do not want to be rushed through our meal, but we enjoy a later dinner while on vacation. We will be eating at places like Le Cellier, Marrakesh, Artist Point etc.

I was not sure how long after the last PS that the restaurants close.

I think you can get a PS until closing time at a park. You can still finish dining while the parks are closed and just exit the park after you finish dinner. Or this may vary from park to park and from each restaurant. So it may be better to check at the restaurant you are interested in to see how late they will seat you and how late they will let you stay. I would hope that they don't kick you out, but allow you at least a couple of hours.

Hmm.. the only time we've dined late in the parks was when we did dinner with an Imagineer. We weren't finished until almost an hour after MGM closed. They rushed us slightly then, but mainly because the transportation was about to stop. They didn't want us to miss the last bus.

I don't know how they accomodate this in normal PS's, but unless you have a vehicle of your own or are staying at a nearby resort, you might find yourself stuck if you linger too long after park close.

Transportation stops running 90 to 120 minutes after park closing, so you can't linger too long, unless you are staying at a resort closeby where you can walk or have your own car or willing to take a taxi.

We've enjoyed our later seatings at Artist Point and some of the other resort restaurants. Very quiet and relaxing. If you rely on Disney transportation you don't have to worry about when you're done, just go to DD and transfer to your resort. That can be a complete pain, but at least you can take your time

As far as the park restaurants, I just ask for the latest PS available. For our next trip there are 2 of those - Rainforest Cafe at AK at 5:30, park closes at 5 - and we'll be using Disney transportation which isn't supposed to be a problem.
We're also eating at Tony's, lastest PS was for 5:30, MK closes at 7:30. I'm sure if we just wanted to walk up we could try for a later time, but we like to plan stuff...
