Hello all,

After dating for 6 years, my husband and I were married July 3rd and planning the wedding was a hectic rush for me as I did it in 3 months in order to allow for my brother to be there before his deployment to Iraq. (I had to wait until I knew when his leave was so I could book everything around when he was in the state.)

We just booked a 7 day stay down in Orlando for the Disney honeymoon I have always wanted, and I am overwhelmed with the choices of what to do when we're down there.

My husband has never been to any Disney anything before, and I'm an addict, but haven't been in 5 years. In fact, the two of us have never been on a "real" vacation together (weekends away, yes...vacations, no). I want him to have a Disney experience that he didn't have as a child, and I want him to see that it really is as awesome as I make it seem.

Please please please help me with suggestions.

I just noticed the Wishes Dessert Party, but they're all booked up for when we're down there, so I'm considering California Grill in order to view the fireworks.

He's interested in drinking his way around the world at Epcot, and all of the stuff surrounding the Food and Wine, and we're considering the NSSHP...but two jerky adults there seems a little strange to me...or maybe not, I dunno.

I really want this to be special for him, but I'm flip flopping all over the place, any help would be amazing.

Thanks,

Sleepy B

Do the MNSSHP. Age is definitely not a factor. I had a blast. Also, when drinking around the world, make sure you stop for eats at favorite hideaways. I like the pizza in Italy, and the bangers and mash (sausage and mashed potatoes) in England at the Rose and Crown. Mexico also has some tasty dishes. Relax, go with the flow and enjoy each other. Its a fun vacation that not everyone understands till they do it.

Me and my future wife are getting married St Patty's day but waiting for our honeymoon till October for the Halloween and Food and Wine fest.

Honestly... With the relative short notice and fact that it's his first trip and your first real trip together someplace..... I say just go with the flow and don't try to plan the perfect Disney experience for him. Why risk overplanning or ruining the chance for spontaneity?

That being said, I could see maybe planning a few small things. If he enjoys golf or fishing, why not plan a golf or Fishing trip for him at Disney? Maybe an afternoon tea at the GF one day? A night at Cirque Du Soliel? or maybe try to get an ADR at a favorite restaurant.

Since late October isn't a peak season or around a major school holiday, the Park crowds in general shouldn't be crazy, so you can easily have a great trip and feel like you did everything without the crazy commando planning often required during the busier times of year.

I'd recommend trying to Hit EPCOT during the week since F&W can cause the weekends to get quite busy with the locals. (You may also find that you don't want an ADR during F&W at EPCOT since you can easily fill up just snacking at the various booths).

As Darcy mentioned.... don't worry about being an Adult at MNSSHP. There are a lot of adults who go without kids. Besides, where else do us Adults get to go Trick or Treating while wearing costumes without needing kids to make it acceptable?? :rotfl:

And ultimately... just have fun. With it being a honeymoon, your first extended vacation together, and of course, DISNEY!!.... The Magic will happen even without planning. :goodvibes:goodvibes

(disclaimer: I'm a big fan of just going with the flow and having a laid back Disney trip to begin with.... )

Thanks so much for all of your well-wishes and suggestions. I ended up making 2 reservations. One for lunch at San Angel Inn and one for dinner at Rose and Crown (to watch Illuminations). Other than that, I think you guys are right, I need to just relax and go with it.

What with being all wound up after my wedding and worrying about my little brother in Iraq, I could use the stress free environment of Disney more than ever.

The other day, I got a care package from the USO, quite a change of pace, since I'm usually the one sending out the care packages and harassing my family to do the same. Inside of it was a Mickey doll (Disney supports the USO) and a note from my brother (among other things) and I had to smile because he didn't have to send me a package, and he didn't know that we were taking a Disney honeymoon, but now, even more, going there just feels right.

One lingering question for you guys: Which park do I take my husband to first?

MK----see Wishes and the new show...Magic, Memories ...shown on the Castle.

Be Sure to wear Bride and Groom ears. It will produce extra special memories.

Depends.....

Is your Husband already a Disney Fan? or is he being introduced to the love of all things Disney by you?

Is he familiar with any of the parks already?

Does he have a stereotypical "guy attitude" in that Disney is for kids or just about princesses??

MK definately has the most to do/see.... and there is Wishes and so many classic Disney things like the Pirates of the Caribbean, Small World, The Haunted Mansion, and the Castle... etc. But, It can also be the most girly or little kid-esque of the parks for someone who isn't completely open to the idea of what Disney Magic can be.

If he's someone who maybe is of the belief that Disney is all princesses or not for adults, then i'd probably recommend EPCOT since it is easily the most Mature of the parks and therefor the easiest one to wet someone's feet to the Disney Magic and break thru any preconceptions they may have about Disney.

Then of course, You also have MGM or AK if he maybe is someone who enjoys thrill rides and maybe want something that you can get away with leaving earlier to spend some time together back at your hotel or an evening at DTD.
