One factor that I think may get overlooked is that the amount of people at the resorts may be significantly different than at another time, even if the resorts are sold out for both time frames. Early December, a lot of kids are still in school, so the crowds may be made up of more groups or couples without children (me and DW). So sold out in early December may not be the same crowd size as a sold out week in mid-June, or even later December. The same number of rooms sold yields drastically different results in crowd size depending on how many rooms are one or two people vs. a family of 4,5 or more. For what it is worth, when we went the first week of December in 2016, we didn't think the crowd size was that bad.
