I know others here are worried about losing their upcoming trip (fifi )
And with this cold spell looking set to last in Ireland till next week I'm getting worried too , esp since Dublin airport was closed for most of today!

But dh is reassuring me that the planes will be fine by then so I'm trying to erm ........chill out ;) (cheap pun)

But nature hates a vacuum so I had to quickly replace that neurosis with this one  what if /when we get to dlp it is snowing as heavily as it is here?
Dd is in a w/chair, we won't be able to push her through snow!
Do they clear the walkways in the parks at all?
Do they even open the parks in heavy snow?
What about the walk from the Cheyenne? Will we be better off busing it instead?

See I told you it was neurotic :headache: :upsidedow

If you can put my mind at rest about these things I'd really be grateful :flower3:

Thanking you all in advance :goodvibes

I don't think that the park has been closed one day for weather reason since 92 ... but some rides might be closed.
Walkways are cleared at night , but not when the park is open ...
If it's really snowing , the walk will probably be funnier than the packed bus ride.

it snowed overnight while i was there in feb 09 and i was amazed that they had already cleared walkways through the snow all over the park by the time emh had started. i wouldnt worry about your dd in the snow, for safety reasons i guess they have to clear walkways before they allow people into the park.

I wish they were that efficient at clearing the snow at the airports!!

Is it looking ok for you to go tomorrow? :scared1: or are you worried too?

I have honestly never seen so much snow in real life in my life, and it's not even nearly stopped!

I swear if we actually get to go on this trip I am never setting foot outside Ireland again!!

Thanks for the info on the parks guys :goodvibes

I really feel for everyone worrying about missing their trips, and hope everyone can get there ok :grouphug:
It's so weird, we had a bit of snow here in Kilmarnock (West coast of Scotland) on Saturday/Sunday and its still lying, but we've had none since then at all :confused3
Glasgow just up the road is really bad, and Edinburgh even worse, and even other bits of Ayrshire seem to be getting it, but my town is in a wee snow-free bubble! I'd take some snow for the DISers to make sure you all get away if I could!

It snowed for the 4 days that we were there in Jan 09.......The paths were always clear for us first thing in the morning.

We walked from The Cheyenne most times it gave the boys a chance to play about in the snow.My youngest had never seen snow like it before. But now he has seen it every year since :confused3

It hasn't stopped snowing here in Northern Ireland all day.I was due to take my driving test this morning but it was cancelled :sad2:

When we were there last January it was snowing when we went for breakfast and by the time we had finished and left hotel for Parks for EMH I could not believe that the staff had come out like an army and cleared all the paths - and it was quite heavy snow too! Best of luck to all going soon - hope you all make it out!

Im sure someone mentioned that if you have a disability you can get a special shuttle to pick you up at your hotel to take you to the parks etc.
If its really bad you could do this and spend time 'chilling' in the DLH for a while- theres often characters wandering about there

oh yeah, that was me :lmao:!

well if we get there, i'll just be so happy that we're there that sitting in the dlh watching disney snow instead of dublin snow will be bliss

thanks everyone x

still sending positive vibes out to everyone travelling soon :goodvibes

we were there this week and the snow was all cleared away in the main paths/walkways all over the resort.

They were still clearing piles of snow/ice throuygh the day to make everywhere safe. Please do take care we saw people fall while we were there, one quite badly hitting her head on the wall as she fell.

It was quite strange that they still made it 'disney' snow on main street while it was really snowing :)
