We're getting in at 9:30pm. Renting a car. More than likely taking the 417 route, and stopping at the WalMart in Kissimee on Vineland.

So, it'll easily be after 10pm, but hopefully before 11pm. Looking for anything decent, takeout-worthy, en route. Of course, I assume there will be the standard-nationwide chains, Like Mcd's and whathaveyou, but I'm just wondering if there's anything along that 417 route worth seeking out that will be open.

Mods - move if you think this belongs in a better area. Wasn't sure if "Disney Restaurants" was the best spot, or "Orlando Area."

I would go to the Wawa right next to the Walmart.

Hmmm -
Gas station food...
On first thought - it sounds like the easiest way to spend half of a several thousand dollar vacation on a bathroom floor, waiting for various orifices to stop involuntary propulsions.

On second thought, I'm game!
What are some of the things you get there?

I agree...it's weird. That gas station has a bit of a cult following. (Good cult; not evil cult.) I've been there multiple times and never understood the appeal. Kind of like Trader's Joes. Some people go nuts over that store and I find their many of their products are of questionable quality.

Anyway, if you're looking for "comfort" food, I'd recommend Perkin's. They are a 24-hour diner. It's like Denny's (their parent company) but higher quality food, in my opinion. Perkin's restaurants have bakeries. So, you could get food and grab some of their great muffins for breakfast the following day.

The Perkin's I like is near Disney Springs. It's about a 1.5 detour up Kissimmee-Vineland Road (State Road 535) from 417. Take the World Center Drive exit and turn right onto 535.

We flew in 2 weeks ago and arrived at MCO at 11p.

By then, the only thing open on the 27 was Wawa and we stopped for a salad, a sandwich/hoagie, and shakes. DD loves their caramel shakes.

Everything is made fresh to order and can be customized on their self-serve order screens. It really is a very clean food service area and usually is quite busy throughout the day. They also sell fresh fruit and some pre-made deli items.

We love Wawa in the Northeast. They got made to order hoagies, salads, soups, etc. My kids love the mac and cheese. My favorite is their chicken salad.

We found wawa on our last trip. We had subs several times and found them better than McD, fresh and something different.

I don't think dennys has anything to do with perkins. Corporate level

Last year we arrived on a late flight too. We were staying at Buena Vista Suites for the night before check-in. We found ourselves at Steak N Shake on 535. The burgers are good but they have other offerings too. The bottom line is you can get a burger, fries and drink for less than $6 a person and the food is cooked to order. You can eat in or take out. We eat there a few times while on vacation. But this past year we discovered they stay open 24 hours. We didn't know that. Far better quality than McDs in my opinion. We have restaurants that are a MUST during vacation. Steak N Shake and Flippers Pizza is on that list.

If you choose to try a WaWa I don't think you will be disappointed. It's not your "typical" gas station quality. Sandwiches are made to order. Some things like the soups and sides(mac n cheese, meatballs, etc..) are pre-cooked and kept warm. You choose the size container and they fill it. If you have never been to a WaWa I think its worth a try just for the experience. That late at night, you dont want to eat too heavy but you want to be satisfied. Good luck and have a WONDERFUL time.
