So me and my wife are trying to plan a trip to fly into Orlando on the night of June 7, get into Orlando around 12:00am. Since it's too late for the Disney magical express, we will Uber it to the hotel. Can we still check in at that time? Like 1am? Do we still get charged for that night, June 7th, even though we are technically arriving on June 8th?

Thanks

Disney's Magical Express runs 24 hours a day. They do not pick up luggage and deliver to your room for flights landing between 10PM and 5AM. If your flight lands in those hours, you just pick up your own luggage and the driver stows it under the Magical Express bus.

Disney's computers don't roll over to the next day until 6AM. So you need to have a room reserved for the 7th.

You will need to book the room for June 7 in order to be able to get into the room. Disney computers roll over to the new day at 6 am. So if you don't book a room until June 8 you won't have a room until at least 6 am. And check in doesn't officially start until 3 pm.

Wait, my vacation is July 27 (I arrive at 11:44 am the 27th so technically the time I get to the hotel will be 12:30 to 1 am the 28th of July). In my reservation, my check-in date is the 27th. What is that 3 pm check in time? Does that mean when I arrive the 28 at 12:30 am I won't have a room until 3 pm that day?

Since my flight leaves at 6:45 am on August 2, I will check-out at about 2:30 am (is that okay? are there gonna be cast members at the desk at a time like that?) to sleep in our room a little bit before our flight. My check-out date in my reservation is August 2.

This is very confusing, thanks!!

That means they don't START officially checking people in whose reservations start on the 27th until 3PM.

No. If your reservation showed a check in date of July 28th, only then would you have to wait until 3PM.

Yes there will be plenty of CMs to check you out, etc.

Oh, ok. So when we book the hotel, and it asks about about the flight times, we enter that and it can pick us up at like 12:30am at the airport? They will do that for maybe just us 2 passengers?

Yup. Magical Express runs 24 hours a day. I had a solo trip one year and I literally was the only person on the bus. I felt like a rock star.

There are planes coming in often. It's not going to be just the two of you. There is no set time to pick up AT the airport. When the bus you're assigned to (once you check in at the dme area at the airport and wait in that bus's line) is ready to go it'll go.

You meant "pm" for that arrival time. :)

If you have it reserved from the 27th when you arrive at 1am or so they'll have your room waiting for you.

If you didn't have the 27th booked and started on the 28th then you would have to wait for a room, because 1am on the 28th is still "the 27th" in hotel time.

What would a person do at 1am in the lobby of a hotel?

Wander around aimlessly. I had a boss years ago that didn't believe me that he wouldn't have a room for his family if they arrived in the middle of the night. Their reservation started on August 2nd and they planned on arriving via their car around 2AM. He was adamant that when they arrive, it will BE August 2nd. Well they didn't have a room and the resort was booked. They tried to crash in their car but at around 4AM they grabbed a cheap room on International Drive until about Noon.

OP, there is a hotel inside the Orlando airport. Maybe you could check that out as an option? Then you could get a good nights sleep, take the Magical Express in the morning and leave your bags with bell services and hit the parks refreshed and ready to go. Hope you have a great trip!

Who knows? Be miserable, IMO. :)

Getting a room for that "day" before is really worth it. DH now does it for his work travels so he doesn't land at sunrise and then be useless until he gets into his room. He's a product tester and has to be ready to go. Thankfully his work understands that now and has no issues with him booking for the, say, 7th when he lands at 2am on the 8th.

We got to POR at 2am once and having that room was terrific. It *felt* like a waste leading up to it..."we're paying to sleep for a few hours!" but then we got to sleep in instead of waking up and getting out by checkout time, and we were at our "home". Felt very worth it when we woke up that morning.

It's a good option, that's for sure! The OP will want to look at the price of Hyatt Regency MCO vs their WDW hotel for that night.

But I think many of us were mainly saying that DME runs 24/7. They could still absolutely take Uber in, or rent a car.

And if they want to sleep in a room instead of in a lobby that night, they have to have a room booked for the "day" before.

As others have said, DME runs 24/7, however, if arriving after 10 pm, you do have to pick up your own checked luggage, DME will not pick it up for you. If you can swing it, I would consider taking a cab, uber or private car service after your flight. I once took DME after a late flight and it took FOREVER to get to my resort. They tend to try to fill the buses as much as they can and then they stopped at many more resorts than they typically do during the daytime when more passengers are arriving. It took a LONG time to get to POR that night (or should I say early morning as it was 1 am when I arrived). If I had to do it again, I would spend the night at the Hyatt MCO, as others have suggested, and head out on DME the next morning.

Its not too late for Magical Express. Magical Express runs 24/7. The only thing with arriving after 10PM is that you have to pick up your own luggage at baggage claim and bring it on the bus with you.

You still get charged for that night because you will be in the room for part of the night.

we arent checking in any bags. we plan to only stay for 3 days, so i guess we go right from the plane to the magical express?

Or do what we do, book a Disney Value for the night. Hyatt at MCO tends to run about $250/night. More than many Disney rooms. They have a few nights where it's less but not often. DGD and I fly in at 9:30 in a couple of weeks and we are staying at ASMo for a night and then moving to AKL in the morning. We got ASMo for $100. I'd be hard pressed to get any other room for less than that.

we are debating between art of animation or disney carribbean beach resort. for the nights we are staying, the price difference is only 100 bucks or so total, so i wonder if there is a major difference between the two resorts?

Are you comparing a suite at AoA to a room at CBR or room to room?

The resorts are very different. I've found youtube a great place to go to check out Disney resorts.
