Late March- April rental car codes or help - please

Hi! I am flabbergasted by the rates I'm getting on line - anyone have any tips? I've tried several combinations from Mousesavers. I would like a full size or larger. I need it from March 29th at 10 AM to April 6th at 7 PM - can anyone help me? Best I've found is around $300 - I paid $123 for the same week in 04. Should I just wait until closer or will I really be in trouble then? I have AAA, Marrioott Rewards, Amex, Visa, Entertainment - so, what do you think?

That's Easter week so I wouldn't count on getting too many bargains.

I suggest you find a rate you can live with and book it now. Then keep calling back a few times a week to see if it has gone down. If it does, cancel and rebook (for no fee). If it doesn't go down, at least it won't go up any more than the rate you have locked in.

I know it is - oh well - I have resigned to doing as you suggested since no harm done. But, it was Easter in 2004, too - gotta love inflation!

I have also been trying and can't believe how high the rates are!! I'm hoping some wonderful and much lower rate becomes available before 3/31.

Try Dollar -- use the "Specials" folder and enter OCVB. I've managed to get $88/week for a number of weeks in April and May, not sure about March, probably a bit higher -- of course, this is for an economy or compact size. Good luck.

I couldn't find a good rate for my dates-April3-15-either, no matter what code or discount I tried. Then last night someone told me to try Hotwire. BINGO! Finally an acceptable rate! It was on a Thrifty SUV and was lower than the discount rates everywhere else. I even called Thrifty to make sure it was legit.
