Late lunch/early dinner@DHS - WWYD?

DH and I leave tomorrow for an us-only long weekend at WDW. Yay! I've got most of our plans set, but am still undecided about Saturday.

We may or may not head to DHS at rope drop; if we do, we'll spend just 3 hours or so, then head back to the pool for the hottest part of the day.

We will definitely be headed to DHS mid-to-late afternoon on Saturday. We'll be doing the Star Wars dessert party, starts at 8:30. So we'll need to eat our big meal of the day around 3 or 4.

Another time of year, my first choice would be HBD Lounge. We're trying to focus on doing new-to-us things this trip, and we've never eaten there. But, but, but - it's July in central Florida. It's hard to imagine eating a nice meal outside, mid-afternoon. Am I too worried?

Our other options are 50s PT (our fav DHS restaurant, so we've been LOTS of times) and HBD (inside, in the air conditioning). We've already got an ADR for 50s PT, and there is availability at HBD as well, so my options are open.

Ugh. You couldn't pay me to eat outside during the hottest part of the day in July in Florida, I do not care how good the food might be. My vote goes to HBD, inside.

I agree. I could never convince my hubby to eat outside!!

We ate at mama Melrose's 2 times and had the 3 or 4 pm slot due to fantasmic packages. That was the only time available for us.
I know MM's get some bad reviews, but I can only report on our experiences. The food was very good, loved the atmosphere, and the service was great. So we are batting 100% on our 2 visits, and we would not hesitate to go back again.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions! My plan became to have an early lunch at 50sPT, then an early supper at HBD. It was absolutely the right choice to not eat outside!!! We avoided the sun, and the scorching pavement at DHS, as much as possible. We hit RD - rode LOTS! Then headed to 50sPT for our 11:30 ADR. Only to find most of the wait staff in front of closed doors, telling folks that they weren't opening yet and didn't know when they would. What?!? No explanation offerred - but we were told that any other TS would honor our ADR. So after some discussion, we headed over to Sci Fi. Hadn't eaten there in years - but we discovered that we like Sci Fi! So it all worked out for the best.

Speaking of best - early dinner at HBD was the best meal of our short trip. I think the black grouper dish has become my favorite dish on property! We skipped dessert due to heading to the Star Wars dessert party a few hours later.

So all's well that ends well!
