We are thinking of doing a 3rd trip to get one more use of our AP before they expire 2/26/20. It will be just the hubby and I. Thinking last week of January or Sometime in February. We want to avoid Presidents Weekend as our daughter will have a Volleyball tournament and we would need to be home for that.....We were there the last week of february this last year and had great weather. We would like to have pool days on this trip for relaxing so concerned that end of january might not be warm enough ? Thoughts

I want to see what ppl say too. We are booked 2/1-2/8 but are considering moving it to 2/23-3/1.
We know that’s Mardi Gras week (that’s why we might move it) & it will be crowded. But, I also know that’s it’s pretty much always crowded so I’m curious to see if anyone has opinions about the first week of Feb.

We have went about every year for the last 7 years towards the end of January switched to early February this year to change it up. We are from a northern climate so it was very doable but there were times that I definitely wanted a light coat or a hoodie. We have also cooked and been quite warm but usually it is a little bit chilly when the sun goes down. Felt warm to us though as it is better than the -20 at home.

We went last year 1/28-2/6. It did not feel crowded but rides were running at reduced capacity so waits were up a bit. We needed hoodies (and gloves) a few times. We only got to the pool the two days it was sunny and over 70, which bummed out our kids. I will say the MK on Super Bowl Sunday felt dead after about 3pm.

My husband would have my head if I tried to make him miss the superbowl lol. TBH, I don't think Id wanna miss it either.

January and February weather can be *anything*, so if swimming is a priority, _I_ would pick a different time. But as long as you avoid the federal holidays the crowds and wait times should be very manageable.

The weather is a mixed bag in January and February. One year I went at the end of January and the highest temp was 50 degrees. ( Lucky us, it was a freak cold snap ). Then I went in at the end of February and some days were mid-60s and others were mid-70s.

been last week in jan several times... you just never know what the weather will be like. One year, highs maybe in the 60s for the week, another year, consistently highs in the 80s. This year we swam a couple of times, an had one of the most miserable weather days i have ever seen at WDW, highs in maybe in the 60s, rained all...day...long. It was a trade off though, also the lowest crowds in MK I have ever seen, walk on to anything, no jostling for spaces in for fireworks.

A few years ago, during the last week of January, a few mornings were so cold that I could see my breath. The shops in the parks were selling warm gloves and hats. But, by the afternoon, the temps warmed up and people were taking off their jackets.

At night, though, after the sun went down, I remember shivering in my hooded jacket and gloves, waiting for Illuminations at EP.

If you bring along a warm jacket and gloves and dress in layers, it's doable, even if the temps take a bit of a dive, early and late in the day.

I have also been to WDW in January when the daytime temps hit the mid 70s.

Month High / Low(°F) Rain
Jan 72° / 51° 4 days
Feb 75° / 54° 4 days
Mar 79° / 57° 5 days

I have gone four times right after 2/26 and it’s been warmish to hot but humidity not bad. Crowds low and lines reasonable, it’s a favorite week.

I have been twice in mid February before Presidents Day and needed gloves/jacket but crowds were low and lines were reasonable. Also liked going this week.

January weather is even more variable and reduced operations can affect lines from what I understand from friends.

After looking at a tentative schedule for our daughters club volleyball, we are now leaning towards Jan 24-31. Spoke to the hubby and he said he doesn't care enough either way if its not nice enough for the pool. Thats good :)

The room rates are lower at that time (Value period Jan 20-Feb 12), than later in Feb (for Presidents' Day, Marathon, Spring rates, etc.), if staying at a Disney resort.

BTW, all of the Disney pools are supposed to be heated to 82 degrees, year round. The mods and deluxe resorts also have hot tubs, which guests enjoy when air temps are not very warm.

I forgot the pools are heated and having a hot tub to dip into would be great too...Pretty sure Im booking for SSR 1bdrm 1/24-1/31/20. Since its just the hubby and I, we can deal if the weather doesn't work out for pool days. It will be so nice to have a trip just us. I've started thinking of all the great restaurants we could enjoy :)

We just got back a couple days ago from Disney. My husband can’t handle the heat. We are going end of Jan/feb 2021 with my sister. I’m concerned a lot of rides will be in refurbishment. Is this the tome they close rides? Also, will park hours be shortened too? I loved the EMH of 6am and 7am this past week!

Definitely refurb time, and shortened park hours. But, if heat and lines are your enemy, this is a great time of year to go. For my family, lower crowds and lower temps are more important than a couple of rides being closed because we get sooooo much more done than we could during other times of year.

I don't think Mardi Gras week will impact you too much. And the Mardi Gras crowd will pretty much be gone for at least the last couple of days of your trip.

But they won’t refurb two big rides at the same time, right? Like RnR w/ ToT or 7dmt w/ space mountain? It’s usually only one or two but not two big rides?

We were there this year the last week of Feb also. Weather was great, light crowds. That time of year works well for us. This next year, we are doing Disneyland the same week.

Usually its not two big rides in the same area - I'd be surprised if they decided to do RnR and ToT at the same time. But, they could do a couple of big rides in MK - I've seen Splash and Space down at the same time, for example. Its never as bad as you think its going to be, though. Like I say, that time of year you'll accomplish so much more that you won't miss the few rides that are closed.
