Late flight = worst room?

We arrived late (around 9 pm) to POR with a Royal Room and we got a pretty yucky view of a stairwell. But hey, we paid for a standard view and standard view we got. We didn't complain. They did put us in the building we requested and on the floor we requested so we were happy.
