Late Dues Confusion

*I've already emailed Accounting about this, but am curious about what you all think.*

We purchased a 50 point add on in December. I never received an invoice for that one month of dues. January comes and still nothing, so I think maybe they just rolled it into my total dues. I pay in full. I check in a few times over the next few weeks and it always says Paid in Full, good deal.

Well, today I log in and see I owe $400! Due Feb 1 of course. I panic and try to pay, but it says $0. It was not until I clicked Pay by Contract that I see it. Ok, I'm paid up now hopefully, I beat the late charge right? Also, this is way too much for a measly 50 point contract for one month, so I'm assuming this also includes 2022 dues. Right?? And of course it's giving me the 7 Dwarfs now.

Same use year and home as first contract. Is having to pay each contract separately something to expect every year or was it just wonky because of the late add on?

I own 3 contracts all in the same use year. I pay in Jan./Feb. each year rather than monthly. You can opt to pay all 3 at once in one payment or you can opt to pay each one individually. I’m guessing the late in the year add on caused the odd situation for you this year. To avoid late fees your payment must post before 2/15 - so you should be ok there.

Annual dues are usually due Jan 15 and payable by mid-Feb. If you saw a Feb 1 due date, that is likely for dues owed attached to the sale. You purchased in Dec, but as part of the sale after closing, which may have occurred in Jan, you are being charged with all the 2022 dues, and with a Feb 1 due date you actually had until March 1 to pay it.

That is a very good point, I hadn't considered that the paperwork might not have completed until January so the due date would be pushed back.

We haven’t received a bill for maintenance for the add on we bought in January.

@Memorymakerfor4, Even the "normal" annual fees that are posted as due January 1, aren't consdiered late until 2/15. I'm sure you won't/ don't have an issue.

You're right, it sounds like I was in the window. However, it's just luck that I happened to decide to click on the dues tab 3 days before 2/15. I never received any paperwork explaining the charges, either. I paid it assuming it's for December and this year, but would have appreciated a break down.

If drusba is right and I had until March 1, it's another story. However I still would have liked notice that charges were coming. Our vacation for 2022 is booked so there's a good chance I wouldn't have bothered getting on the site in the next two weeks.

I got some clarification from Member Accounting today. The first bill was 2022 dues for contract #1 as well as the few days of 2021 we had contract #2. The second bill was strictly 2022 dues for contract #2.
