what is the latest we would be able to check-out...staying at pop century resort and our flight is late

you have to request it but standard no fee is 1pm. After that, the fee is about 50% of the room rate but you can request any time if it's really needed. They may come back with it's too crowded and you don't get it though.

You need to request it from housekeeping the day before and be prepared if you get a Not available so you need to be out of your room at the normal check out time.

I've asked twice and gotten that response both times. Now I don't bother anymore - I just go to a park and have fun until it's time for me to leave.

We requested and were approved for a 1 pm checkout yesterday at Yacht Club. I figure anything later I'd probably get a no so didn't bother asking. Our MDE pickup wasn't until 6 so we went to Epcot until around 1240 then took our bags to bell service, spent the afternoon at the pool and visiting the boardwalk area then had dinner at Crew's Cup before departure.

We've never had any luck getting even a 1:00 check out.

Not sure just how late your flight is, but if you don't want to go to a park, a water park, or Disney Springs, you are still allowed to use all of your resort facilities on your check out day. You can store bags with Bell Services. Pools have change facilities.

Always remember the person that is waiting to check into a room and may have to wait until 4:00 pm.

If you are one of the approved carriers, you can check your luggage right at your WDW hotel. They will also store your carry-on bag. Otherwise they can store all your luggage. The area they store luggage has AC. They also have a fridge, if you need one.

If you decide you wish to swim, all the WDW hotels have locker rooms. (Double check at BC/YC. Their locker room was temporarily closed this past summer during the remodel. for that matter double check at any hotel with a current remodel.) You'll have wet suits and maybe wet hair. Some locker rooms have hair dryers, some don't. Some have shampoo, some don't. You'll also need to request a towel, which I think you do near the front desk.

For me, the trouble with going to a park is that you have to make sure you allow plenty of time to get back for ME. Same thing with DTD, but I think getting back from DTD is a little easier.

Oh, if you happen to have bought your hotel/tickets as a package, the last day is a good time to use the freebies that came with your WDW package, like arcade room access. I'm not sure what the current freebies are.

thats never dampened our trip. we typically have to wait but we are ready to hit the park and when we get back our room is ready and our luggage is in our room.

Perhaps a better way to word your concern would be to say, "Always remember a staff member has to clean your room before the next guest can enter."

There a process between one person checking out, and the next checking in. A guest checking out at 10am, doesn't = a room clean by 11am. A room that isn't ready until 4pm doesn't (necessarily) = a guest checked out late.

A room only becomes available to the next guests AFTER it is checked off as being ready by the HOTEL STAFF.

Cleaning rooms is tough work. As a guest, you also don't know the occupancy rate, or cleaning staff to occupied room ratio. Maybe someone didn't show up for work that day, and everyone else had to cover. Maybe the linens were late. Maybe the hotel was short a vacuum.

There's a thousand reasons why a room cleanings could be running late.

That said, the earlier we check out, the easier we make it for the cleaning staff to do their job.

Though while I'm at it, keep in mind a real person has to clean up any nasty messes guests leave behind. A late staying but considerate guest is probably preferable to early checkout slob- especially if the slob smoked, stained, or broke anything.

We once checked into a room where the carpet was soaking wet, and another that was smoky like a nightclub. I'm sure both cases meant the room had to be taken offline for at least a night.

We always ask - as it does not hurt to ask and have generally been permitted a 1 PM check-out.

It's completely case by case because it solely depends on how many check-outs/check-ins are expected that day and how well staffed housekeeping is that day. Disney operates at almost 90+% capacity almost all of the time, so it's not comparable to a transient hotel like the Holiday Inn by your airport that has more flexibility with granting late check-outs. Definitely doesn't hurt to ask, but I would say it's more likely than not that you won't be given additional time so plan on that just in case.

Ninety percent sounds high to me, but regardless- WDW will usually grant at least an hour - except holiday weeks.

It also pays to make your stays weekday to weekday. Many folks arrive on a Friday or Saturday, then they check out on a Saturday or Sunday. This is probably why WDW likes business guests so much. They arrive on Mondays and/or check out on Fridays. This is why we try to make Tues, Wednesday, or Thursday our travel days.

It is funny, we often ask if late check out is available, but end up deciding that we are better off vacating early in the morning.

It's a tourist destination. They consistently operate, on average, 80-90% occupancy throughout the year. And as mentioned, it will solely depend on that particular day's occupancy rate and housekeeping staff as to whether or not they will allow any extra time. The decision is up to the executive housekeeper on duty.
