Does OKW ever allow for a late checkout? Our flight times have been changed, I had scheduled during DS's nap time, but now, its much MUCH later - usually he naps around 10:00 am - I know check out is usually 11am, but do they ever let you check out a little later - like 12, or 12:30 so I dont have to wake him?

TIA

As noted, there are no late check outs (they do the need the time to allow housekeeping access to the rooms to be completed by 4pm), but at OKW, you may be able to find a nice spot in Papa's Den (next to the check-in area) for a place conducive for a nap. (I know i've often dozed off in there! :smooth: )

They had late check-outs in the early DVC days....we checked out at 1:00 p.m. on two occasions. But there were probably too many requests from people with late flights and they were unable to accommodate everyone.

I know for a fact that there are exceptions to this rule. When we were at HH a few months ago, we were told that our room wouldn't be ready for a while, because the family in there had been given a late check-out.

HH might be a little different because it is not an onsite DVC resort but I know for a fact that on site DVC resorts do not give late check outs based on: 1) asking myself, 2) other people telling me they asked for various reasons and were denied.

There is a written rule for no late checkouts but it never hurts to ask.

I'm sure some DVC'er has pushed the edge of the envelope on this, fess up! Do they try to charge you an extra day for being late? I thought the law was they couldnt physically kick you out if you are willing to pay, or am I just in a DVC fog from the single digit dance?

I believe you are refering to certain hotel laws. I do not know if this would apply to a timeshare like DVC - even though you can "pay" for the room.

I personally had a run-in with a similar "are they breaking the law" situation at HH when they unilaterally decided to lock us out of our room (just hours after check-in).

My sister experienced this "law" when she tried to check into the Poly for her concierge room on Thanksgiving Day a couple of years ago. She was not a happy camper as she had called to confirm her reservaton two days before their flight. when they checked in they were told the previous guest decided not to check out that day :(.

As for WDW DVC resorts, I don't think a late check out is an option any more. I can certainly understand why. I like the option offered about Pap's Den :).

Years ago we asked at Dixie Landings if we could check out at 1 pm and we did. We were charged about 20% of the day rate. Last year we also asked at a resort in Litchfield (SC - not Disney related, of course) and we were told no and we were more than welcome to use the facilities. It might depend on how busy/full they are. Our flight was just changed to a later time too while we were at OKW, we did ask and were also told, no. We had no problem and were expecting a no, it never hurts to ask - just don't be disappointed.
