Late check-in?

We have always been able to check in to our resort early....before 3pm. This time we are driving and we expect to roll in to WDW around 7 or 8 pm. Just wondering if we would have any problem getting our preferred location being that late....? Anyone have any experience with checking in late and not getting what you asked for?

We checked in after 11 p.m. last year and had a wonderful room. We didn't have any requests but paid for a waterview room at POR. It was the day before free dining started and we had a room only reservation and had to check in again in the morning for our package but we were able to keep the same room.
The year before we check in early at the same resort and our room location wasn't as good. I think it all depends on what is available when you check in.

I guess it depends on how near to capacity the resort is. As the day progresses, more people check in and more rooms are filled, they have fewer choices of rooms they could swap you to to accomodate your preferences should they not be met by your originally assigned room. So I'd think your chances are definately better by getting there early. You can always gamble and hope they could move you the next day should you not get what you ask for...
