Hi all! I was wondering if I need to call the front desk ahead of time if I will be checking in after 8 pm.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm usually early and don't want to be considered a "no show" after a certain time.
Have a happy!

In December of 99 we didn't check into BWV until 11pm and we had no problem at all. I'm sure that we got one of the last 1-bedrooms left because our preferred view room had no view at all. The back portion of DVC sales blocked all most the entire view of the canal to MGM. But by 11pm I was just glad to have a place to lay my head.

Eva's idea that you will have far less options that usual when you check in late is a valid one. I've gotten there when all they had left was a smoking foom. I'd call earlier in the day if it were I and make sure they go ahead and assign your room and hold it.

Hi Dean,

Is a smoking foom about the same thing as a smoking poof? I am sure that room stunk!!

we frequently check in late (around 10 or later)- we like to leave right after work and get in late at night so we can wake up and be ready to go.

Anyway, most times they already have you checked in. They usually have all you paperwork and keys to the room they checked you into, etc in a folder in a rack behind the counter. You tell them your name they grab the folder and you're basically done in 30 seconds. Nice that it is so quick, but if you want to request a particular room at the time I suppose you're beat- we always make requests well beforehand and always get what we ask for, so just request in advance.

Since our points are 'used' if you dont cancel the reservation, i guess it doesn't matter that they check you in before you are even there.

We are staying at DxL (on points) this coming Monday and our flight doesn't arrive until Midnight! Should I call ahead to make sure they reserve a room for us? When we booked they asked our preference: standard view vs. preferred view. With no additional points for preferred view we chose that. I hope I don't get stuck way in the back.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I would recommend putting your room preference on your ressie. Also let them know you will be arriving late (give approximate time). Maybe ask for a room assignment before check-in. We usually leave after work and get there well after checki-in (7-8 PM, or even later, depending on the nasty I-4 traffic between Tampa and Orlando), so I try to make sure my bases are covered and make sure all of that is noted in the ressie (arrival time, room preference, etc.).

OK, I'l punish the finger that was supposed to hit the R, I'm staring it down now, LOL. While the info about preassigning rooms and requests is valid, remember where they get the rooms when there's a problem. If you're assigned X room and someone goes in just ahead of you and wanted the same type of room, they may take you're and give you theirs. It happens all the time and makes it a little risky to arrive later in the evening.

On our last trip in January, we arrived at 1AM (had told MS in advance) and got the bldg. we requested with no problems.
