Late Check In query

I posted on the other Late Check In thread, but thought I'd start another one for my particular situation to get more feedback.

We are arriving later on Friday, December 3rd. My parents and sibs arrive Thursday, December 2nd. We are at BCV.

They have a 2 BR Dedicated. I have a 2 BR Lockoff.

I probably won't get to BCV to check in until 8:30pm. This is my first ever check in past noon so I have no idea what might happen.

I requested on both my reservation and my parents' reservation that we be located as close together as possible. I understand that this is a request, but I am hopeful.

We also are a registered Grand Gathering. As I understood it, one of the features of being a Grand Gathering was that resorts would try their utmost to get your rooms close together.

I basically need non-smoking, hoping for close to parents.

Am I worrying needlessly? I think that Friday night with its higher points might be a nice thing in my favor, but I am not sure.

Someone suggested adding one of my parents or sibs to my reservation so they can check me in first thing Friday. But how does that work?

Any other suggestions?

I would add the name of one of your parents and/or siblings to your reservation. Then that person could go to the front desk earlier on Friday to check you in. Just be sure that whomever you designate for this duty knows a little bit about the process and can try to make sure that your rooms are close together. The beauty of this is, that (providing you have an understanding CM at check-in) they don't have to accept a room that is ready at that time. They can ask to see whatever rooms are going to be open for that date and hopefully find one close to their own!

So how understanding do you think they will be? I am sure that I will be talking to my parents and sibs after they get to BCV and I can find out where they were placed .

The 3 times I have checked in to BCV each time has been pleasant and when I asked to see available rooms, they checked without blinking an eye or exhibiting any irritation.

My big thing is the room keys, though. Would my sib be able to check me in and then just ask that my room keys be left at the front desk in my name?

I bet with your request to be placed close together, that your rooms would be pre-assigned. I think they pre-assign more then they let on.


We checked in at midnight for the first time ever last Thanksgiving. I had been obsessing about everthing, so I call the front desk before we left to advise them that we would be in late. She call the room assigner and our room had been assigned already and if nothing changed would be a pool view room. At midnight, with 2 sleepy kids, it was a very nice pool view.

Isn't this the annual member meeting time? I'd bet the rooms would be booked regardless of the weekend.

The member meetings are early this year. For BCV, VWL and SSR, they are on November 30. For OKW and BWV, they are on December 1.

Don't know if that makes a difference, but the meetings are over before I get there.
