late August?

The weather at WDW from mid May through mid October is HOT, HOT, HOT and very humid. It's pretty much the same weather even into October. Sometimes in October you might get a break in the weather especially at night. I think you get more rain in late June, but rain could increase for the other weeks if a hurricane is nearby during any of these months.

We are going this August from the 26th to Sept. 2, we usually go the week after Thanksgiving however this time we were given a weeks worth of RCI points and could book the BWV's as a 25th wedding anniversary gift!

I'm actually looking forward to the heat, last November it was COLD!!! It will be nice not to have to wear layers!:rotfl:

My question is, since everyone says to take advantage of EMH and rope drop - will it be crazy crowded at that time? What if we show up at the parks around 9:30 -10:00? Also does the pool get super crowded after lunch?

Thanks in advance for your help!:)

Thank you all for your responses, we have decided to go ahead and book the trip as it sounds like it's doable if we just have the right expectations. Early at the parks, and at night....pool in the afternoon. Sounds like an awful way to spend 4-5 days!

Called MS and there is a decent amount of availability, so we are happy about that. OKW seems the most our speed, so we will probably go for that. Wanted to try BCV but unfortunately 1 night is not available....same with VWL. Might do a WL.

So it'll be hot....but it'll be hot in NJ, and here we'd just be staring at the wall!

I posted yesterday asking about the heat in last July...and now our work schedules are pushing a possible quick summer trip back to late August. We'd be looking around the 24th-29th, or something thereabouts. 4-5 days.

Anybody familiar with this time of year? Being the weekend before Labor Day, is it very crowded or are crowds "winding down"? It the heat tolerable, if you just do the parks early during the day and in the evening and spend the afternoons in air conditioning or in the pools, as others suggested for late July travel? Is this "Hurricane" season?

Any thoughts about late August travel would be helpful. Plan to call this morning to see about availability.

Thanks.

Haven't read all the posts. I did it once and will never do it at again. We did it for free dining and my bday is August 26th. As I said, personally, I would never do it again. Just way too hot. I often travel hurrican season, Sept/Oct and much prefer those times.

Believe it or not, it's not that busy crazy in the early morning! I think some people have this vision that it's like the running of the bulls in Pamplona, small children being trampled...... :lmao:

We do am EMH at all of the theme parks other than MK in summer and then head back to the resort at 12-12:30, by then the sun is burning hot! The parks start to get real busy 9:30 to 10:30 when the rest of the people get to come in.

MK we do pm EMH, the park is open till 2am, we get up late that day and relax at the resort, head out about 4:30pm and do MK till late! It's doable with older kids, my kids are 14 so they stay up late, and at 11pm all of the MK rides are pretty much just get on, no wait. It's even better at 1am!

I have found the main pools to be real crowded in the afternoon, so we tend to go to the resort quiet pools.

Anyway this is what works for us! I've lived in Florida for 40 years and personally I can't bear the direct sun from 11 to 4pm, it kills me!

Im going the same time. Got a last minute deal and me and DS (4) are going without DW. Dont know how we will manage, will prove interesting.

We are actually going for 10 days in early November, so this is really a quick 4/5 day trip as a tagalong with a work trip my wife has to take. We are going to do very little, but will have an AP so we can go to the parks a few times either early or late, and spend a lot of time in the pool.

Point being, b/c of our fall trip we won't feel the need to do much at all.

I know it will be hot. I just keep telling myself that it'll be more fun to be really, really hot in WDW vs being just really hot in NJ.

We may end up doing the pool in the morning and then heading to the parks after lunch, that way if the afternoon rain comes we can just put on our ponchos and play in the rain at the parks instead of getting rained out of our pool time. Just a thought!?!
