Late August vs. mid-Sept

We went to WDW last Sept. mid-month and found the crowds to be really low. Most of the fastpass machines were covered up and almost every ride was a walk-on or we had to wait for 1 group ahead of us. This year we are going the last week of August and I'm not sure how the crowds will compare. I've read anything from really crowded to no crowds at all. Should I assume I'll need to use fastpass at that time? I may have to put more thought into organizing my days at the parks if that's the case. Thanks for any info.

Late August is usually more crowded than September, but not as bad as the rest of the summer.

We went late August last year and are going back this year same time :goodvibes The crowds weren't bad at all. We only got fastpasses for a few rides, longest we waited was tops 20 minutes (Splash Mt. I think) Just try and plan your days ahead of time to figure out which park to go to to miss any crowds that may be there, but like I said we never hit any huge ones.

(woo hoo)

We have been to Disney in October, November and March before, but NEVER in the summer... so we are a little nervous about the heat and crowds.
Sofar March was the busiest time we traveled, so if late August crowds are better than spring break crowds, we will be in for a treat!!!

We are going last week of August also. I have a feeling Free Dining will make it more crowded than previous years..hope I am wrong!

Nah, they had free dining last year too and crowds were fine!

How was the heat in September last year??

I am trying to tell myself that with the smaller crowds it makes the heat more bearable in the park!!!

It was really hot/humid :sunny: . We did luck out and have a week that was mostly overcast so the sun wasn't that intense. However,we all agreed that we'd rather deal with the heat in lower crowds than deal with the crowds in lower heat!!! I couldn't imagine being there when it's really crowded and having to wait in long lines for everything.

Subscribing!! We are already thinking about next year's trip and the hope for another free dining promo (and we don't leave for this year's for another 4 months!!).

We too are debating mid to late August or end of September and am looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts! :thumbsup2

I was in Orlando last September (19-25), ( not disney world though, we visited universal). The weather wasn't bad at all. We are going back around the same time this year :)

It's also Hurricane season...

It's hurricane season from June-November as far as I understand. As we saw last year hurricanes can (and do)hit land at anytime within those months. Heck, where I live we could have a severe snowstorm anywhere from Nov.-March, but I don't let that stop me from making winter travel plans.
