Late Arrival - DME

Our flight doesn't arrive at MCO until 9:00 pm. If I use the DME luggage tags, will my bags be delivered to my room the same night? What is the cutoff time for DME to deliver your luggage to your room?

Our flight doesn't arrive at MCO until 9:00 pm. If I use the DME luggage tags, will my bags be delivered to my room the same night? What is the cutoff time for DME to deliver your luggage to your room?

If your flight is on time, your bags should be delivered that night (or early the next morning) if you use the DME luggage transfer service and are at a moderate or deluxe resort. If you are staying at a value resort, luggage services stops at about midnight, so your bags may or may not be delivered. There is no cut-off time for delivery at the mods and deluxes. That's great, but with a 9:30 p.m. arrival a 2:00 a.m delivery is well within expectations.

After 10 p.m. DME no longer picks up bags, however, so if your flight is late and arrives after 10 p.m., you will need to go to luggage claim to collect your own bags.

I would collect your bags at baggage claim. We've arrived two different times around 9:00 pm. Our bags got delivered to the room around 2:00 am both of those times. As I was sitting next to the door waiting for the bags to arrive (and everyone else was sleeping), I really wished I wouldn't have used DME luggage service. At that hour, I would definitely take a few extra minutes to get your bags from baggage claim.

Another option is to let Baggage Services at your resort know to "hold" your bags until the next morning. Pack night time essentials in your carryon (which you should do regardless). Get to the hotel, check in, let baggage services know, then call for your bags as soon as you get up the next morning.

To avoid the knock on the door all you have to do is tell the front desk to hold your bags. Call down the next morning when you want them, and they will bring them up to you. We have done this many times.

Much easier than stopping at MCO to get your bags, and then hauling them thru the airport to the DME bus.
