Late 70's early 80's girls

Apparently I was a total preppy because 2 of my favorite accessories back then were:

The add-a-bead necklace:

and of course the bermuda bag with interchangeable covers. All the rage!

And did you have a charm holder too? I did!

Yes, Gunne Sax is one of Jessica's lines!

Gunne Sax's dresses and blouses are commonly found on ebay. They also sell for crazy money!

I can't believe that! My DM JUST gave my Gunne Sax graduation dress to Goodwill a few years ago. Now I could be rich...

I had a pair of Earth Shoes.

I remember huge shoulder pads for women on tv shows such as Dynasty and Dallas.

Olivia Newton John's "Let's Get Physical" complete with headband and off the shoulder top.

I wore Tretons into about 2000, but I haven't seen them since. I LOVED the ones with plaid LOL. I wore them because they were totally retro, even in 2000!

I LOVED the Pasta store LOL. I can not remember the jeans store though, County Seat maybe?

I had a pair of Earth Shoes.....

....I LOVED Earth shoes - they were soooo comfy! Hey, did anyone ever have the jeans and/or baby corduroy bell-bottoms with the different-colored square back pockets?

Check Gunne Sax out on ebay. Below knee dresses usually fetch the highest amounts, then floor length, then blouses.

I stopped trying to buy a dress as the prices always went through the roof!

Tretorns are available at zappos.com. I googled them randomly the other day and found them on the site and even signed up for email alerts when they get new styles of them in. I am so totally getting the white/pink ones. They, along with the white/red plaid ones I had in high school, were my favorite shoes back then. :goodvibes

Did the rest of you all doodle in pen along the soles of them and on the bottoms, too?

I'll add one more to that ensemble - wrist bands! Oh, and don't forget about those jelly bracelets that Madonna made famous.

I wore this type necklace and also had a bag like this (although not Lily Pulitzar) Mine was baby blue with pastel plain on the inside most of the time.

I forgot about Izod shirts. I had a ton of those too. Between Izods and surf shirts, I was complete.

I had Tretorns and K-Swiss tennis shoes.

I wore a Gunne Sax to both proms and a blouse in my senior pic. I still have 2 blouses and 2 prom dresses. hmm...eBay, huh?!

And no one has mentioned "Members Only" jackets!!!!!!!:woohoo::lmao:

Nah, I think Jessica McClintock was around at the same time as Gunne Sax. I seem to remember seeing ads for both, along with ones for those dyeable shoes, in magazines right around prom time.

Weren't Gunne Sak and Jessica McClintock one and the same?

Yep- Gunne Sax by Jessica McClintock! I still have one.... I might have to chuck that baby onto ebay! :thumbsup2

Oh, just wanted to add that Anderson Cooper is prettier on his worst day than Gloria VanDerbilt ever was on her BEST day! :thumbsup2

I remember having Earth Shoes, Wallabys, Candies and boat shoes. I had the candies but rarely wore them because they didn't look good with boy Levis and surf shirts, LOL

:)Gag me with a spoon!! You guys are great, no one at work can relate to me when I talk about the good ole days. Class of '86. I had a yellow T-shirt(late 70's) with glittery butterflies and "Honeysuckle", my CB radio name, in the fuzzy letters on the back.

:)My 16 year old niece was singing "Open Arms" the other day and couldn't believe I knew all the words. Yeah, baby, that's me, your rockin' 41 yr old aunt.

That was my wedding son in 1992.

I would have been *killed* for that. :headache:

I don't think my mom cared; if she did, she never said anything about it, at any rate. Mine mostly said stuff like IDW (this blond skater boy I would have KILLED for back in the day...just saw the other day that he's on Facebook and I went all fluttery all over again  ), and I remember coloring in every other space between the treads on the bottoms of them so they looked striped.

ETA: And the mention of Add-a-Bead necklaces reminded me of twister beads. I had SO many of those, and could mix and match various combinations to match any outfit. Lol.

Not only on the soles but also on my Chuck Taylors themselves, as well as my jeans. My mom wasn't amused.

OMG someone else remembers them?! I wish they still made them because I'd buy them in a heartbeat.
