Last weekend of August without EP?

The last time I went to US, the EP was not included for the Harry Potter rides. Now that it is, I'm a little concerned about the wait times. I usually ride alone, so I can do single rider when available, but I like to go on the regular line and experience the entire queue. I'm not a thrill ride fan (I usually ride all of the HP rides except the dragon challenge, plus minion mayhem, MIB, Spider-Man... I'm mostly into the simulation rides), so I'm not sure if it's worth the $100 per day expense. I priced staying in a US hotel that offers the EP, but for us it would be cheaper to just buy the passes. Do you think the lines will be busy enough to need it? My plan was to go without, and then if I feel I need it I'll purchase it there, but I was just curious on what people with prior experience thought so I can plan budget-wise ahead of time. End august is pretty quiet so don't worry.

HP FJ in 2012 was an hour wait, now it's more like 20 minutes at the right time of day. Same for gringotts - even when it first opened, we were on in half an hour without EP at end August. EP will add time on, but they aren't as busy as they used to be and it's relatively quiet at that time of year, particularly for the first couple of hours.
