Help.....

I can't decide if we should go down the last week in Oct which would include Halloween, or the second week in November which would include veterans day.

I am looking for the slowest time, like everyone else I guess!!! The kids are small but in the early years of school, so veterans would be an extra day the kids would't have to miss.

we were there the second week in Dec this year, and to me the crowds were not terrible, but busier than when we used to go in Jan. The MVMCP on Dec 11, was packed though, so I don't think I would do that again.

Any ideas on the best time.

I would probably go with the date that would mean the least days of school missed, so Veteran's Day week.

We went last week of October in 2006; parks can be pretty busy because of the Food & Wine festival and MNSSHP.

ohhh not what I wanted to hear. Maybe the week before the last week in Oct would be better. One of the guide books (website) has a few days in the last week of Oct listed as a 3!!!!
My DH and children really want to see it for Halloween, not Christmas again.

I really need to pick a time of year to go and stick with it. I enjoyed Jan but the weather is just to iffy.

We were there over Halloween this past October. Other than EPCOT on the weekends, the parks were not particularly crowded. We stayed at the BWV and it was fun to see all the little ones trick or treating on the Boardwalk on Halloween. MNSSHP was a lot of fun, too - your kids would undoubtedly enjoy that as well.

I'd choose that time over the week that includes Veteran's Day (EPCOT's Food & Wine Festival goes from September 26 - November 9, 2008) even if the last week of October is a bit more crowded (and I think the difference, if any, isn't all that noticable). Halloween is a fun time to visit and I think the Veteran's Day week is too early for most Christmas decorations and events.

I think I may go with this week also. We get up early, and we hit the parks at opening anyway. I will not do the MNSSHP on Halloween night, I bet it will be crazy. I think they will have it earlier in the week. I am going to stay at SSR, but I may try for a different resort at the 7 month window.
Any suggestions on the best DVC to stay at Halloween?

Agree about MNSSHP date - the MNSSHP always sells out for Halloween night itself. We went on a Sunday and found it to be fairly crowded, but we were there mainly for the parade and fireworks, anyway. Both were wonderful! My DH also insisted on trick or treating - apparently even the adults are encouraged to do so, LOL!

We liked the BWV for Halloween - as I mentioned, they have trick or treating and a DJ on the Boardwalk for the little ones. Saw lots and lots of princesses, pirates and princesses and pirates and one Peter Pan, LOL.

I'm sure you'll have fun no matter which resort you choose - be sure to book as soon as your 7 month window opens if you want to stay at one of the smaller resorts - VWL, BCV or BWV.

I read that as well....there are 2 days listed as a 3, and 2 listed as a 4, so I thought for sure this would be a slow week! But with the Halloween party and the Food and Wine Festival, I'm not sure. Still, I think it would be better than the following week because of Jersey week.

We went the last week of Oct 07...Sunday-Friday I didn't think it was too too bad. We went to MNSSHP on the 30th and I didn't find it to be crowded. We stayed at the BCVs and spent a lot of time at Epcot at Food and Wine. The crowds were definitely manageable. It rained a lot though so that may have kept them down.

The previous year we went for a long weekend over veterans day and it was extremely crowded... Very Long lines at the kiosks at Epcot. It was also a weekend and the weather was pleasant.

We absolutely loved going there in October over Halloween even with the weather. BCV was a perfect location.

My family is in NJ - they are off Nov.6 & 7th for the "teacher's" convention; plus they will have off on Nov.4th for election day; not off Nov.11 for Veteran's Day - which could be the case for alot of Jersey school systems. Therefore, I think Jersey week will fall earlier than usual this year - my sister is looking to go Sat. Nov.1-Nov.8 - kids will only miss two days of school that way.

BTW - I never felt the impact of Jersey week anyway; with the exception of Veteran's Day being a little crowded; didn't think it was too bad. Also, in 2007, the first MVMCP was Nov.12 so some xmas decorations could be up that same time this year.
