Anything going on that last week of January that I'm not thinking of? Special events and such that are on your "must dos"? I can't think of anything and I'm trying to help a friend plan. Just want to make sure she doesn't miss something special.

Thanks!!

We went last January, 25-2. It was a great time. The parks were empty. Yes it was cold, but the low crowds made up for that. There weren't any special events, but we did almost everything there was to offer. Maybe your friend would be interested in booking a tour?

How cold was it? Like winter jacket cold? Or shorts and a sweater cold? I am thinking of booking last week in January also. My Grandkids are Texans, so what is cold to me (in Chicago) is a little different than what they would call cold. I would hate for them to be miserable all week. I tried to look up average temperatures, but it said 72 for a high and in the 50"s for a low.
I would not call this cold, so am wondering about your first hand experience.

We went that time last year. Or neighbors were there a full week and swam a few afternoons! We were there for 4 days. Two days were really cold and rainy. We needed our winter coats, but two days were warm enough for shorts and t-shirts.

We are going same time again this January/February. The low crowds were totally worth it. We have lots more inside things planned, like BBB, Pirates League, exploring resorts, etc...

We go first week of feb. I wore t-shirt and capris, I wore a sweatshirt in the morning and evening but took it off during the day.

Great time to go, low crowds, not hot. Only drizzled on us one day.

Winter jacket cold. This January we waited at RD at DHS for 15 minutes and I swear to God it was like 35 degrees outside.

But of course on other days it can get in the 70s.

We are from MN and we went last week of Jan last year. Shorts and t's during the day but at night it did get chilly where we would need jeans and a sweatshirt. For your Texas family they may find it more cold than we did though!

FYI: CRT will be closed that week. And one of the water parks too. (Blizzard beach, I think.)

It's the same week we're looking at.

We had 4 nice days (low 70s and sun) and 4 days of high 40s, low fifties with drizzle. But we are from Indiana so it was still warmer than home. Ha. The low crowds were the selling point for us. And we hate the heat so we weren't super bummed it was chilly.

January temps can range from shorts and t shirts, swimming weather to full winter jacket and jeans, need gloves and a hat weather. We have been several times in January and have experienced every temperature from the low 30s up to the low 80s- sometimes during the same vacation week!

Pack a little of everything and layer. That is key. We would head out in the mornings wearing track pants over shorts and windbreakers and a fleece hoodie over a t shirt. Then we would take off layers as needed during the day, and add them back on in the evening. We also brought gloves and hats and needed them a few mornings and evenings.

The thing we noticed about FL cold vs other places- the amount of moisture in the air made the cold seem colder. The tipping point was around the upper 50s. Normally, that would be a nice cool day at home. But with the humidity in the air, mid 50s seemed much colder- the cold seeped in and got to us, especially riding outdoor attractions and feeling the cold breeze.

OK that decided me. We are going 1st week in Feb. Made the reservations today. Texans can bring their winter jackets. Thanks everybody.

We're from a very ***cold*** part of Canada, and we went to WDW for the end of January last year. There were a couple of days when we were comfy in t-shirts, but on other days, we were extremely cold. Most evenings and some days, we wore our Canadian winter jackets with fleeces underneath and mitts and scarves. My husband wore three shirts underneath his Northface jacket, and still we needed to go inside to warm up at times. When the wind came up, we were still cold. (We won't even talk about the rainy days.) Seriously, there was even one day that was colder than the same day on the Canadian prairies.

We'd seen the Florida weather forecasts before we left home, and we were unphased, saying, "Well, we know know what _really_ cold weather is like." Seriously, we underestimated how cold it would be.

There were still fun parts, like having the ferry back from Magic Kingdom completely to ourselves.

We still had a great holiday, but I wouldn't be quick to dismiss just how cold it can feel in January.

Yeah the weather down here is crazy. Can be high of 40s one day, 70s the next. Gotta love it.
