It has been a VERY long time since we took a trip to WDW in the winter. It seems that the past five trips have been in the fall. So I would LOVE all you input about the last week of Jan -first week of Feb. Crowds? Weather? Water Parks? Thanks so much!

We went Feb 1-8 of 2003. Weather was great. Half the days you needed a light jacket in the morning over your shorts and t-shirt but didn't need the jacket anymore by 10AM. Only rained (misted) one morning. I think highs were 75-80 degrees. We swam a couple of the afternoons at CBR but didn't do the water parks. Crowds were small. I think our longest wait on rides was 10 minutes and that maybe happened five times the whole week. We're planning our next trip in late Jan-early Feb of 2006. We've been during other times of the year and nothing has beat this. I've heard complaints that it's too cold during Jan and Feb, but when there's a foot of snow on the ground at home and the high that day is to be 4 above, 70 degrees is just fine.

We were there the weekend of Feb 7th this year. There were approximately a million cheerleaders everywhere. From what I understand, this happens every year. I'd try to avoid that, if possible. Otherwise, I think it's a great time to go. The weather can be a little chilly, but we don't mind that.

ohhh I forgot about the cheerleaders! Does anyone know where I can find that info? TIA:earsboy:

We were down Jan 27th (Thurs to Mon)- Feb 2nd.

It rained all weekend and it was a high of 60. We had a great time anyway. Long pants, T-shirts and ponchos.

That weekend was Dance Nationals. Even though the hotel was crowded (Pop Century), the parks were empty.

We would definitely go at that time again. As stated above, with cold temps and snow at home, anything is better than that.

You might want to check Wide World of Sports website. They list all the competitions. I don't remember the web address. I remember seeing it posted here before and that is how we knew what was down there when we were there.

My 15 yr old son had no problem with the teenage girls walking around the parks ;)

IMHO the cheerleaders did not really impact on the parks (except MGM where they did their competiotio), however the value resorts & buses were heaving. We were there Jan/Feb 2003 & the second week was considerably busier than the first, however everything was completely doable. At USF, DD got to play ball with Barney for 5 mins as there were no other children at the meet & greet! The first couple of days were uncharacteristically cold, however we still made it into shorts & tees & ventured to TL for a half day. Having been this last October, for ease of touring, Jan/Feb is a winner!

We went the last week of January this year.

Cheerleaders weren't too bad. We saw them in groups, but wasn't overwhelmed by them.

Crowds, not that bad.

Weather, It was cool in the mornings & evenings, 40-50's, but warmer 65-70 during the day. Only rained one day and it was more of a misty damp day than anything.

One thing I noticed is that there were a lot of CM's "earning their ears". Must be because it's a slower time of year that they train people then. I dunno. Just seemed every where we turned, there was another one with a badge that said "Earning My Ears".

We went Feb 4 to 16 this year. We took our winter coats and were glad we did! We needed them to watch Fantasmic. The weather was a rollercoaster. On the nice days we ditched the parks to get more swimming in. Also the parks were more crowded than we expected. We did make the mistake of going to MGM when the cheerleaders were there and couldn't find a place to eat for a late lunch. So we left and went to Kona's at the Poly.

Overall we had a great time. Though if I go again at this time of year we would go during the last week of Feb/beginning of March hoping for warmer weather.

I never thought I'd be happy to share my vacation time with large groups of cheerleaders (though I love them - one of my DDs was once one!)- but I'm planning a surprise trip for DS's 16th birthday at the very end of January - will probably be including a few of his buddies also - suddenly the thought of cheerleaders in the World seems like a huge bonus ! ;) - maybe I can even take credit for planning it that way !:smooth:

WE WERE THERE FEB. 2 - 9TH OF THIS YEAR. WE STAYED AT POR AND DIDNT ENCOUNTER ANY CHEERLEADERS THERE. WE RAN INTO SOME AT MK AND MGM BUT IT WAS FEW AND FAR BETWEEN. IT DIDNT RAIN THE WHOLE WEEK WE WERE THERE WHICH WAS A HUGE PLUS!!!!!!

OUR NEXT TRIP IS PLANNED FOR JAN 29TH - FEB. 5TH 2005.
