Last week of August crowds

We booked a five day trip last night for the August 27-31. We typically go the middle of September, I've tried looking at the crowd calendars on various sites, but they all differ. I'll be 31 weeks pregnant (I know, it'll be hot!) so we are just looking for the kiddy rides and characters for our 3.5 year old, will lines be manageable for these?

The last week of August is usually much better crowd wise than the first week, since many schools will have started back up by then. It probably won't be any better than the middle of September, though.

Peak season ends mid-August. From around August 15 onward, the crowds start to drop incrementally. Traditionally the crowds the last week of August are manageable, especially if you heed the crowd calendars. That doesn't mean there aren't lines, but you can usually skip and come back to attractions with longer lines later in the day.

The last week of August leading into Labour Day weekend is the week we've beein going for the last few years. Crowds are definitely manageable, it's a very pleasant time to go actually. They do start to pick up the Friday of the long weekend and those crowds carry through the weekend, but even then it's not uncomfortably busy.

There is only a handful of days over the year that disney isn't crowded. The rest is what level of crowded will it be. It'll be lower than middle of summer but higher than mid september. 5 states do not go back to school until after labor day (they run sept-end of june for the school year) and this is the main reason after labor day tends to be less crowded than the week before..

You'll have a great time no matter what the crowd level is.

You'll be good! We usually go the third week of August and by the end of our trip, the crowds (and hours) drop.

It's a good time to go...we go the third or 4th week of August every year and we have good crowd experiences. You will just need to manage some of the more popular rides with your fast passes. It is hot.....and I mean hot.....it is like spending each day on the surface of the sun (note: we go every year at this time so it is definitely survivable. Take it easy and drink a lot of water since you'll be fairly far along.

We usually go in at the end of August every year. The last week of August is great. Not that busy. It rains every day around 3pm for an hour or two, but then it stops. I like the rain, it cools everything down and the little bit of crowds thin out.

We love August! We've gone the 3rd week of August for five years in a row. Crowds are extremely manageable. You'll enjoy it for sure

The last week of August is awesome! Well, it's hot and rainy -- of course -- but the crowd levels diminish significantly from the summer.

It seems that there isn't as much an "off season" at Disney World and Disneyland like there was in the old days. But as far as ease of getting around, booking reservations, and standby wait times, the end of August is quite a good time to go.

Great, thanks for the reassurance everyone! I know it'll never be an empty park, just hoping my assumption about schools starting back up and thinning out the crowds would be accurate. I'm hopeful since we will be avoiding most of the big ticket attractions, we won't encounter too long of lines. I plan to arrive early to the parks, head back for rest in the afternoon before park hopping for our early dinner reservations.

Yes get out early every day before the daily storms roll in along with the truly brutal heat. Have a good trip!

We will be there 8/24-8/29. I'm hoping crowds are better than our early November trip last year. It was just too much... I'd take heat over the massive crowds anytime. I think there is a reason they removed early November from the free dining promotion this year. Too many people in the parks!
