We are looking at changing coasts. Never been on the westcoast. How busy is it the week before school gets back. We would be staying at the DVC. Is 7 nights too long. Should we look at doing something else?
Many years and trips to WDW , and now total newbie here. TIA

School start dates are very random. Here are a few threads you can check out to see what your dates might experience.

Block out calendar. The locals with AP's can and do affect park volumes.

Welcome to the west coast.

I would try very hard to get there before the SoCal and SoCal Select AP blackouts are lifted.

Thanks all, we unfortunately are set for that week. Just flipping a coin on which coast.

We went last week of August this past year. Crowds were great. We got MaxPass and used it for headliners. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a ride. However, to note....it was also 40 degree weather so not sure if that scared people away. I was upset that we missed Haunted Mansion as it's my DD and my favorite at WDW but otherwise, was an amazing few days. Another item to note is that Fantasmic and fireworks switch to only weekends (Fri-Sun) ...but if you're coming for 7 days, then you'll still be able to see them. The World of Color show plays nightly.

We also visited during this time period this year. Crowds were great even when not using max pass. Our longest waits in 5 days at the parks was 20 minutes for Alice and the fast pass line for RSR after the ride broke down.
Yes it was hot, but as others have posted, you can manage this by using cooling towels, free ice water from counter service restaurants and taking breaks. The only downside we found was the reduced opening hours. Usually 10-8 for DCA and 10-9 for DL during the week, longer hours on the weekends, So just keep that in mind for planning your days.
