Last Trip? It was until we met Food & Wine -- Recap 2/12

That's fascinating about Julie Andrews and the photographers. I didn't know that!!

So glad you're starting to feel better. :)

I LOVE that blue and silver tree!! How beautiful!!! A perfect setting for a very lovely picture of you two!

I hope your feeling better? Warm thoughts going your way!!! at least it's a bit warmer today..

The nauseous feeling went away; today I have a raspy, scratchy throat. But didn't keep me from furniture shopping. :)

LOVED the Disney expo at the Museum. I saw it twice... :lmao:

I wish we could have seen it more than once. We really enjoyed it.

This is a pretty good week to stay home. I hope you feel better soon. My husband is just getting over the flu.

This weather is definitely for the birds. I was going to go see my great-niece this weekend, but I've postponed that...don't want to get the baby sick.

I'm glad you got over to the museum to see the exhibit. The weather went downhill from Sunday so your timing was good. ::yes::

Yes it did; in fact, it snowed our whole way home that afternoon and the highways were awful.

Your pictures turned out really nice. I love the Disney outfits you are wearing. I had a Tinker Bell shirt on the day we went. Did you get a chance to take the Animation class?

We didn't get to the Animation class. The one that was in process was drawing Olaf which I would have loved, but it had just started and there were about 50 people waiting for the next one. :(

Hi Kathy! I am so behind on your TR, I just finished 9/22.
But I loved seeing all of your pictures of the animals from AKL. And I love the picture of you and Mark meeting Pluto at Epcot.

You are a trooper to be reading all of the back stuff. Thank you. Thanks; the Pluto picture was one of the ones I frame.

Food and Wine festival is my favorite thing at Epcot. We went for the first time last year, and ate sooo much!

I am so glad we finally went too and can't wait to do it again in October.

Also, I'm so jealous y'all met Pooh and Tigger, we didn't get a chance to meet them this trip.

I got to see them twice and was very happy since Tigger is my favorite.

I have never been to Starring Rolls, but I'm so tempted to go because all of their pastrys and cupcakes they have.

Everything there is very good.

I love your Minnie Mouse tank top that you wore on HS day, it's adorable.

Thank you.

Your room at the Boardwalk is so great, and with a great view!

It was a very nice view; I'm looking forward to seeing what my boardwalk view is like in May.

Last thing, I was so tempted to buy the Beauty and the Beast plates at the Co-Op too, they were so cute.

I'm excited to finish reading!!

I may end up buying them next time. Des, Andy's girlfriend, is a huge B&B fan.

I'm in the same boat Kathy, sick, sick, sick. But I'd rather have it now than at the end of the month, so I'll deal.

Oh Rob, no! You must get better for your trip.

Oh my, I so wish we would get, heck, anything Disney to come to town. I took a day off work a couple years ago just because a Disney cruise ship came into port. I would love to see something like the Archives exhibit. Thanks for sharing your photos.

You are welcome. I have lots more; I'll try to get them all up on FB.

Oh my that Lumiere is fantastic!!! Now I want one, lol.

Isn't it great? I love it. Andy's a keeper.

I hope you are starting to feel better, Kathy!

Stomach is better; throat...not so much.

I'm so glad you got to see the Disney exhibit in the nick of time. It just wouldn't have been right if you two had missed it! But given the fall/winter you have had, perfectly understandable.

::yes::

Yes, it was hard to get there earlier between baseball, and then my brother's illnesses and my mom. But at least we got there.

Oooh, my bad. Well, in my defense, without seeing a logo on it, it looks just like a Cowboys jersey. Anyway, I'm glad the peace is being kept for now.

I'd love to see the Colts in the Super Bowl, but not sure then can get past the Broncos and the Patriots.

I just skimmed a buuuunch of chapters....so good to see Kidani Village :woohoo: and the Boardwalk :yay:. I have reservations for 6 nights at the Boardwalk in June! :cool1: And great to see that you got to meet up with Cynthia/Jeff and Tim/Mel and kids.

Thanks, Glenn. We love Kidani and were so glad we got to stay there. And I get to stay at the Boardwalk two times this year. I'll miss you, though, it appears. I'll be there in May. It was great seeing Cynthia again and meeting Jeff for the first time, and Tim and Mel and the kids was a long time coming and I'm so glad it happened.

I'm so glad again that you got to see the Disney exhibit at MSI! Great exhibit for sure.

It sure was Clare; I'm very happy we finally got there.

And Andy sure picked a good birthday gift for you!

He did awesome.

Sorry you are sick. Feel better soon! At least you aren't missing anything outside.

Thanks; definitely not missing anything outside except frigid air. :(

That exhibit looks so neat. I wonder if it will ever make it's way to Toledo.

Jen, it was here over a year. I don't know if it was going somewhere else or not.

Love the birthday gift!!!!! That is so cool!

Thanks; Andy knows his mom very well.

That's fascinating about Julie Andrews and the photographers. I didn't know that!!

I was surprised when the CM told us.

So glad you're starting to feel better. :)

Thanks; I'm glad I've got the weekend to just lay back and rest if need be.

I LOVE that blue and silver tree!! How beautiful!!! A perfect setting for a very lovely picture of you two!

Awwww....thanks, Liesa.

Last year at food and wine they sold these little trays to carry your food and adult beverage in so you could walk around and nibble with ease to answer your question. Hope you are feeling better.

Before we moved on, we stopped in UK for a photopass

We had just finished in Ireland and we next approached France. Nicki had been telling me I had to have a specific drink...that I would like it better than my Grand Mariner Slush. I found that hard to believe, but I told her I would try it.

The menu in France

We had the Boeuf bourguigon: braised short ribs in cabernet w/mashed potatoes and the LaPassion Martini Slush: Vodka, Grey Goose LeCitron, Cranberry and passion fruit juice

Did we like it? Oh yes we most certainly did. We went back for seconds on the short ribs and I LOVED my drink. But was it ever strong. No way I could have had two or I would have taken a nap right on the bench where we sat and ate.

We then needed to get out of the heat for a bit, so we went here

Soon the film was over and we were on our way to our next destination. A picture as we exited the film

And a photopass pic

We stopped in Belgium for another waffle

We shopped in Morocco

and got photopass pictures

We passed Japan

and tried on a hat

Italy (I'm sure I stopped here for a smoke break while Mark went for a bio break)

And then we approached Mark's favorite

Continued in next post

We were, of course, stopping again for some food in Germany.

Mark went with the Beer Flight #1 in Germany:

1) Radeberger Pilsner, 2) BraufactuM Colonia, 3) BraufactuM Palor and 4) Schofferofer Grapefruit. I do know the Schofferofer Grapefruit was his favorite of the four; at this point I don't remember which was the second favorite. There was one he didn't care for all that much...but don't recall which one it was.

Poland was near by so I picked up two of the Kielbasa and potato pierogi's to enjoy while Mark enjoyed his beer flight.

After finishing, we continued our walk and arrived in Norway

and then Mexico

We decided to hit the ride while we were there

After exiting the ride, we headed back towards Scotland because I really wanted the scallops again

We each got a scallop and a potato pancake...so so so good

And before we headed to our next attraction, we stopped for another Cronut

I'm going to end here and finish up our Epcot day in the next update. However, I missed three pictures from the previous night. I did have my Grand Mariner Slush at one point

(No, I was not tipsy, but it was so hot it was dripping everywhere)

And the two most important pictures. We ran into Tim and Mel. They were out for their 10th (am I right on that number, Tim?) anniversary dinner while Grandma watched the kids. We got an "adult" shot of just the four of us. We look like we had been out in the hot sun all day and evening and they look so refreshed. But it was so good seeing them again.

Tim also let us know that he had dropped something off at our resort before they came over to Epcot.

I'll post the picture of it here now so I don't forget:

It was so lovely of them to think of us while they were on their cruise and bring us a little memento. We thoroughly enjoyed all the different ones when we got home. Thank you again, Tim and Mel, for spending time with us on the trip and your long time friendship.

Up next, a final attraction in Epcot and some down time for Mark

How I missed F&W last year!!!!! Everything you got looks sooo delicious...especially the drinks! How fun running into Tim and Mel!! That was sweet of them to get you the rum sampler.

I  your Dumbo purse!

Jill in CO

I have had that drink in France and it is strong. You tried some really great dishes!!

I love all the anniversary photopass pics - you two are so cute and obviously having a great time!

You got around to quite a few things - walking around during F&WF is definitely one of life's great pleasures.

I too love the train set! My dad was big model railroader so it makes me think of him when we see it and especially love enjoying it with my kids

That special drink in France does sounds pretty darn good - especially during hot weather!

Glad you met up with Tim and Mel and that was very thoughtful of them to get you that gift from the cruise. :goodvibes

and got photopass pictures

Continued in next post

I love this picture. Your hair looks super cute pulled back like that!

I love the movie in France. Makes me kind of sad to see pictures of the film today when I think about this week's terrorist attacks.

So this actually a slush that is strong? As in heavy on the alcohol? Then I want that one!

Fun meet with Tim and Mel. Nice gift. I really wanted to try that rum when we were in the Bahamas.

Oh my, that drink looks fabulous!!! The French seem to like their drinks strong... and who am I to argue.

You guys and your photopass photos. Too stinking cute. :cutie:

So interesting that the Schofferofer Grapefruit beer seemd to be a favourite of everyone. I feel deprived.

Ah the life of travelling with a DISer. Constant photos of partner eating and drinking. :rotfl2:

That gift is so sweet. Too much technology can be too much sometimes, but the friendships people can make via an internet message board sure does make up for it. :goodvibes

That museum exhibit looks really cool!

You really got so many great photopass pictures. I especially like the one in Morocco!

Those french slushies are too strong for me. When we went a few years ago my sister and I split the Grand Marnier and Citron slushies, and ended up giving them to Michael. I wanted to like them, but they were just too much for me!

That Belgian waffle looks awesome, and I'm so jealous that you got another cronut!

Great Updates Kathy The scallops and the potato pancake looked yummy:goodvibesHow awesome you met up with Tim and Mel ~~ I loved the pix of the Disney Tree I Blue and Silver and all your pix too !!

You guys take such great cute pictures!

Too bad you didn't have a great piece of meat. We had it one of the days and it was great! I don't like fish, but Craig really enjoyed the trout as well.

Glad you enjoyed the F&W. I have done it twice now and absolutely love it! I would love to go again!

Can't wait to see more... which was your favourite food item at F&W?

I hope you're feeling better!

I love the pictures from the Disney Archives Exhibit! I wish they would bring something like that to NY...
The pictures you got are great, too!

I LOVE that Lumiere! It looks a lot like the one you get at BOG dinner (which is technically not Lumiere ... but it certainly looks like Lumiere).

Glad to hear you enjoyed France! All the photopass pictures are great!

Is that a Pikachu hat Mark tried on in Japan? Cute!

The beer/food from Germany and Poland all looks good ... I'm glad Mark enjoyed one of the beers, even if he didn't like them all.

Another cronut ... yum!

So nice that you ran into Tim and Mel again! The picture is kinda funny with them all dressed up and you guys in park clothes. It was nice of them to get you a gift from their cruise!

Another wonderful day.
The food looks yummy, but I think I would be more than tipsy if I drank all that beer. :rotfl2:

Glad you did get another meet up with Tim and Mel the night before too.

Looks like a fun visit to the Disney Vaults.

What a fun birthday present!

Yay for Fun around the world showcase!

I came home sick from work today (and think I'll stay home tomorrow) so not quite up to an update. However, here are a few pictures from the Disney Archives Exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry that we FINALLY saw on it's last day here this past Sunday.

Hope you're feeling better!

That looked like such a neat exhibit. And the MSI is still the best science museum I've ever seen.

And last, but not least, for those of you not friends with me on FB, Andy and Des came back just in time for our arctic freeze on Tuesday (and the snow). Andy bought my birthday gift while he was at Disney. The kid knows his mom's heart:

Always good to know they're thinking of you! Was he buttering Mom up for $$? :rotfl2:

We had the Boeuf bourguigon: braised short ribs in cabernet w/mashed potatoes and the LaPassion Martini Slush: Vodka, Grey Goose LeCitron, Cranberry and passion fruit juice

Sounds tasty!

No way I could have had two or I would have taken a nap right on the bench where we sat and ate.

We then needed to get out of the heat for a bit, so we went here

Sure. If you're going to sleep off the alcohol, might as well go to an air-conditioned theater. :rolleyes1:rotfl:

Poland was near by so I picked up two of the Kielbasa and potato pierogi's to enjoy while Mark enjoyed his beer flight.

That looks really good.

Glad you got to see them again! And you two covered a ton of ground in Epcot. That's a lot of walking, so I can definitely understand feeling hot and tired.

Tim also let us know that he had dropped something off at our resort before they came over to Epcot.

:thumbsup2

I really like this picture of the two of you. When I first saw it, it looked to me like your anniversary button is hanging over the border banner.

You guys are rocking the F&W booths!

Others have commented recently about the decline in the quality of the food at Disney, but it seems like most of the items at the booths were really well done.

:thumbsup2

And even if not, give me a couple of those martinis from France (oh, Passionfruit, how do I love you, let me count the ways...) and I'm sure everything will taste fine. Or I won't care. Either way.

It has been years since I have seen Impressions de France, but your pictures (or whenever I hear any of the music from the show) bring me right back!

The photopass picture from France is great too, with the muted background.

The rums were such a nice gift!!! I have had the rumcakes from Tortuga (YUM) but never the actual rum.

:goodvibes
