It was a very rough morning.

So sorry!

And I though he sits here with me, worrying about my dog. Amazing.

Something like that tends to restore your faith in human nature!!

He better be careful. DH's brother was having problems and he still wanted to help and the lifting really hurt him. And there were 9 of them and it was still too much for him.

It was almost too much on DH, physically, today. When he walked past me while they were carrying the casket I noticed he was carrying with his left hand and he had his right fist clenched so hard and you could see the grimace of pain on his face! But he made it through....and now he's in bed! ;)

Thank you.

:thumbsup2

 That is how DH's Dad looked at his Mom when she passed. You could just feel the amazing love they had for each other.

It is amazing. I mean, I feel that way for DH and we've been together 25 years and I feel like our love grows stronger all the time. But sometimes you just forget that other couples feel that way too. This whole thing has really reminded me of how fragile life is and how we never know from one day to the next - or even from one minute to the next - what will happen. Our family is always the type to make sure we tell each other we love each other - if anything were to happen I don't want to look back with regrets and wish that I had said something when I had the chance!

Hang in there Kathy.

I will! Thanks!

By the way everyone - I feel very lucky to have all of you as my friends!

Glad DD made it up.

I am too. And she's put in for two days off to come up after my surgery to help out!

Sounds like the whole area will be missing Mary Helen with that long line.

She was a very special lady. I never heard anyone say anything negative about her. She was just a very, very wonderful person!

hopefully none of those roads were roads the funeral party would travel on. :scared:

All we got on our end of the county was rain - but it was enough rain to make the drive up to the cemetery very muddy!

DH took his patrol car (unmarked). Usually they have a sheriff's deputy escort from the church to the grave site but since the cemetery was only about a mile from the church the people at the funeral home didn't request an escort. When DH found out that there was no official escort he volunteered to do it. His car is unmarked but does have the full lightbars in the front and back windows. So he escorted the procession to the gravesite. But, halfway up the hill there was a sharp, steep turn and it was all muddy. He knew the patrol car wouldn't make it up all the way so he pulled off to the side to let the funeral home van and the hearse go by. We were about 6 cars back and were able to watch. The van went up the hill, the hearse went up the hill...the hearse slid and had to back down to try again. It took five tries for it to finally get up the hill! The next vehicle in the procession was a 4 wheel drive truck with Bill and Melanie and Melanie's husband and son. DH was going to walk up the hill but they stopped and picked him up and he sat half on Bill's lap in the front seat on the ride up! :lmao:

We all followed, about 20 cars in all - following like a herd of cattle. And when we all got up there we found out that there was no place to turn around! :scared1: So, when it was over we all had to back down! :rotfl: :rotfl:
