In a perfect world she will get out Thursday, but that isn't likely based on her last stay. She went in with a low iron count so all kinds of things besides how well she can walk will come into play. She was up on the floor by 2:30PM which is a good sign. They have her on a morphine drip, so she's pretty out of it. PT came up got her to walk 75 ft down the hallway. They have this "Cruise Ship" analogy and there is a magnetic board on the wall with all sorts of destinations in varying distances from LA via Cruise ship. The farther you walk the father you move your magnet across the board, it is cumulative as far as you walk throughout the week. So far she is halfway to Catalina Island!

Massage was relaxing, sort of. I used to always book deep tissue, but recently I've switched to Swedish for a more relaxing experience. However this woman was definitely employing deep tissue techniques. I've never had a swedish massage when they use the point of the elbow! That's part of what I was avoiding, it's not so relaxing when you have to breathe out to release the pressure! I just moved my arms and my back is sore! Yes she got the muscles going, but I didn't want any pain afterwards! Ugh, I may have to find a new massage place.

Yay for her making it 75 feet! I just hope she doesn't have any complications :goodvibes

Would taking a hot bath or shower help the soreness? I've never had a massage, so I don't know if that would help at all :confused3 I hope you're not so sore tomorrow  I always thought that a massage was to help relax, not to cause pain.

The soreness goes away within a day or so, and a bath doesn't really help. There are many different kinds of massages, theraputic, relaxation, rejuvenation all different. I wanted the Swedish for relaxation, but in the beginning of the massage I made the mistake of mentioning that I used to book deep tissue, but now I prefer Swedish. She started to tell me how she liked Deep tissue better because in the end the muscles are more relaxed. It has to do with some kind of enzyme that gets released in the deep tissue, once that enzyme is out of your muscles they do feel better, but there is that interim period. The Swedish Massage is a little more superficial, but it just feels good and doesn't have as much of a theraputic value.

I got hooked on them after a car accident I had almost 25 years ago. Insurance paid for them (just the back) twice a week, and pretty soon I started to get into the whole full body thing. One of the reasons that we bought points at SSR is because Fran knows how much I love to go to the spa, and they have a spa there!

I'm just whining, I need to go to bed soon because I need to be up at the hospital before 10AM for her PT, and I only got like 3 hrs of sleep last night.

I'm glad the soreness goes away fairly quickly. If that wasn't the case, I honestly don't think I'd see the point of that kind of massage :lmao:

Yay for your home resort having a spa, though :cutie:

Sleep well when you get there!

Where are you, Sharon, Dana?

I know Ruthie, Kim & Ness have gone to bed as it is :cloud9: for East Coasters, so I guess that leaves

L T P !

I'm here...just!

I work on Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays (Australian time...so that would make it sort of Monday, Tuesday and Thursday American time). When I work, I don't get time to play much....I don't do or start anything without 110% commitment....

as Ruthie is finding out on the photography board :rotfl2:

Yay, Sharon's here! pixiedust: Did you put in for your vacation?

How are you today/tonight/etc? :)

Ahhhh...I knew that there was something I forgot to do today!

I must put that in tomorrow!

I'm fine. Just a little bit sad. I found out today that a ex-colleague's husband got killed in a cycling accident in Italy two weeks ago. He was over there cycling down a hill; perhaps a little bit too fast and out of control; and was involved in a car crash. I knew him, not well, but enough....he ran a bike shop in Melbourne and we've bought bikes from him for our son. He was mid-40s. Such a waste. Funeral is Friday and I understand that the ex-colleague only wants family there, so I won't be going.

Oh, that's so sad :(  My condolences to you and his family. People bike in the streets here and I'm always so paranoid that whoever I'm driving with is going to hit them, because the cyclists here are insane. It really is a waste :(

:grouphug:

Good morning all! Surgery went fine, she is in recovery and will be there most of the day. I'm going to get ready for my massage!

Hi Alison. Thought about you and Fran a lot today. I'm so glad to hear that the surgery went well and that recovery continues to progress well!

I think you definitely need to find a different massage place!

Good Morning America Goodnight Oz...

Sharon Loving your pics again....I think you're "pushing" the envelope with some of your reasoing :lmao:....but that's why I love you

I'll be pushing it again tonight with my take on US Government building :rotfl2:.

I think Ness and Liz have been *cheating* on us....

Thanks! I only stick to bike tracks and the sidewalks here. I'm off to the photo thread for a little bit...but will be back

How are you going?

I'm okay. Just watching Bones and trying not to think about food. I'm off work in 45 minutes, which is good, so I'm just waiting to head home :)

I finally ordered my CD the other night. Hopefully I'll get it this week.

whew good to "see" you  I was just deleting all the no longer relevant subscriptions/threads and :scared1: I accidentally deleted you all...I think I was the closest I have ever been to an anxiety attack :rotfl: now we are a group again :grouphug:

so how have you been ? busy? haven't seen you here much
