Well, as long as you aren't too bugged by her.

We have radios, and we're supposed to carry them at all times, even on break. One of our residents pushed her emergency alarm. The alarm is broadcast over the radios and, after it was broadcast a second time, I called Adriana on the radio. She didn't answer. It was broadcast a third time, so I tried her cell phone, twice, and she didn't pick up. I tried the radio again. Still no answer. I finally got a hold of her on her cell phone. She said she left the radio in the bathroom.

The emergency alarms are for EMERGENCY. Some residents use them just to get our attention, but the women who pushed it tonight normally doesn't. Thankfully, it wasn't a real emergency, but regardless.

So my coworker got all snippy with me when I told her she needed to keep her radio on her. I also called our boss and left a message on her voice mail about what happened.

Doesn't she realise that she is PAID to work...and that manning the radio is work?

Apparently not. I guess she doesn't realize that if she did that and someone hit the alarm and was having a heart attack and died because she didn't answer it, we'd both lose our jobs. I can't leave the desk. Someone has to be here at all times, and whoever's upstairs is supposed to answer alarms and stuff.

I have to log off. I'm supposed to be spending time with my son....unpaid "work"/pleasure!

Catch you later (maybe).

That's rough!

Pity....if she was more hard working, you'd be enjoying that popcorn. popcorn::

Cheese sandwich

simple version
Two slices of bread, toasted and buttered.
Slice of Cheddar Cheese in between.

A bit more upmarket
Two slices of bread, toasted and buttered.
Chutney
Slice of Cheddar Cheese in between

A bit more effort
Two slices of bread, toasted and buttered.
Two slices of Cheddar cheese on each toasted bread slice.
Place on plate and microwave or grill until cheese has melted.

The deluxe version - croque messieurs
Two slices of bread, toasted
Ham slices
Extra cheesy Bechamel sauce
Paprika

Spread the bread slices with bechamel sauce. Layer a ham slice on. Put another layer of bechamel sauce on one of the halves before placing the other on top. Sprinkle paprika anywhere in the layers to suit your tastes.

Sprinkle some grated cheese on top of the sandwich and grill until the grated cheese is bubbly.

OK any of those sound pretty good, and are closer to what I would call a grilled cheese sandwich. When I visited NZ I fell in love with what they called "Toasted Sandwiches" which were actually USA grilled sandwiches, but they had a special technique that I have utilized ever since that trip. What Fran eats as a cheese sandwich is gross to me. White bread with mayonaise on both pieces and a slice of American processed cheese food in between. Ick, but she likes it!

Here's a little food porn for you:

I like grilled cheese with butter (not margarine) on each piece of bread, but then a slice each of cheddar, provolone, and mozzarella. I love it :)

I won't let margarine in my house! I like a slice of cheddar and a slice of American. I butter the outside piece of bread and I place each piece of bread separately on the pan and put the piece of cheese on top of the bread. As each piece of cheese starts to melt, I put the sandwich together and the cheese is wonderfully melted. If I add ham or bacon, I warm that in the pan next to the bread and then put it between the two slices of bread covered with cheese. I learned that method watching them in NZ making "Toasted Sandwiches" they came out so much better than assembling the sandwich outside the pan and putting the whole sandwich in the pan to cook on both sides.

Now I'm hungry for a grilled bacon and cheese! Unfortunately I have the makings for it too!

We have margarine, but mainly because we use it for things like baking. I actually don't like American cheese at all. I got started eating other kinds of cheese when I was living in Orlando, and I've disliked American ever since :lmao: I'm going to be going upstairs to get my popcorn:: in about 20 minutes, so that'll hopefully help me not be so hungry :lmao:

At my last job, they used to provide complimentary popcorn for all employees, that was nice because they didn't pay us enough to really afford to buy lunch!

Hope you enjoyed your popcorn and things work out with the co worker.
I am going to :cloud9:

Nite nite!

I've been into all kinds of other cheeses for years, but for grilled cheese American just melts so well, but it needs something else to give it flavor. By the same token, I never would have considered eating velveeta, but at the Harley Davidson Cafe in Las Vegas I had the best macaroni & cheese that I had ever had in my life. When they told me it was just Velveeta and heavy cream I was floored, now instead of Velveeta I use Kraft Old English Jarred Cheese, and it is processed cheese food, but it makes the creamiest darned Mac & Cheese which I am soooooooo craving right now it's not funny. But I need to go to bed hungry.

Last night we had dinner at the Disney Soda Fountain in Hollywood next to the El Capitan Theater. After our French Dip with Broccoli & Cheese Soup and Cole Slaw we split a Peppermint Sundae so I know I gained a few pounds last night, I can't have Mac n cheese tonight otherwise, I'll really gain more! I want to be under 200 lbs by August, and I have 9 lbs to go! So it's go o bed hungry!

YUM! And I bet it tasted as good as it looks.

American cheese is just so 'orange' to the rest of the world. I'm just thankful that we have a bunch of European migrants in Oz...we have an amazing variety of cheese here....

Thanks it was pretty yummy, we have lots of other cheeses which I usually choose, but Fran has Okie roots (see Grapes of Wrath) and really enjoys sub par american food. I'm on the other hand on the haute cuisine end of things, we round each other out and meet in the middle, hence my wanting to plate stuff that looks like restautant cuisine and she likes chicken fried steak. Not that I don't, but I plate it up like it costs $15.95 instead of $7.95! :lmao:

OK, must go to bed, really tired and actually broke down and ate some mac and cheese, not the good one I described but the add water kind, but it was still good not having had any for so long!

Have a good night all. I won't be doing much tonight....might go try and finish the TR and have a early night. On second thoughts, I might leave the TR for the weekend and have an early night :thumbsup2

Nite nite!

I only got to eat about half of my popcorn before I had to get to my cleaning, but such is life. Our facility offers lunch for the day shift, but we're literally the only staff here at night unless there's something major going on. So we tend to order out a fair bit, but I'm really trying to cut back on that.

I don't like Velveeta either... :confused3 I'm partial to cheddar. I guess it's because of living so close to Wisconsin?

Last night, my parents came home from their trip and stopped at White Castle :rotfl: It was good :) I think we're going to have roast beef and potatoes tonight, which means I can bring leftovers to work and not eat popcorn:: again :lmao:

Night!

.....soooooo, you guys MISSED me??
