Welcome home, Alison! I'm sorry about your cat That's definitely not an easy decision to make.

Unfortunately he will be the third or fourth cat we will have lost since I started LTP. When you realize how much they are suffering, you need to do it. The last cat, I planned to take her in the morning and she didn't make it to morning. I think it's worse that way.

Yes, it's definitely sad. I'm sitting here in bed with five cats. I think we will need to look into another one or two when he is gone. Fran has been talking about getting one for a while. We need some younger blood, but probably not a kitten.

Would you guys buy one from a breeder or adopt one?

I would probably get them from the rescue people at PetSmart or somewhere else, the pound or something. The problem is I would have to get the cat(s) because if Fran walked into one of those animal shows with kitties without homes, she would take them all home. She is in bed cuddling with Jordy right now, she feels guilty that we took the trip and didn't stay here with him.

Yeah, that wouldn't necessarily be a good thing... I'm the one who goes to the shelter and wants to take every animal home, but I know I can't.

We're at the vet, not ready to let go just yet. We'll run some blood work and see how bad he is. If they rehydrate him there is a chance he might have a little longer. At least with the blood work, well know how sick he is and if his organs have severe damage.

Thanks everyone. He's old but if he has a little time left with a quality of life, we aren't ready to lose him yet. We'll know more tomorrow.
