Went out with the girls today. Had Congee for the first time. Very nice. Had Preserved Egg (another first for me) and pork.
mmmm....yum...
Got a bit sick of the egg after a while and 2 of my friends were happy to help out

We went shopping too but I thankfully didn't spend TOO much...
I was VERY impressed with one friend (renowned for her payless shoes ballet flats) buying $200 calf boots
Now I have Rockport ankle boots that cost more (bought in that strange city to the south) but I have big wide feet (affectionately known as Wile E Coyote feet by BF) so I buy something if it is insanely comfortable

Anyway...was a nice day out.

Which Sibelius did they play?

SYO 2 - SUN & ICE
We are pleased to present SUN & ICE starring Australian Chamber Orchestra's Satu Vanska in Sibelius magnificent showpiece and her homeland's most famous concerto.

Shostakovich's Sixth Symphony too is a tremendous experience - enigmatic and profound. Both pieces are framed by the zen-influenced, hypnotic shifting moods of Toru Takemitsu's orchestral gem A Flock Descends into the Pentagonal Garden.

Satu Vanska was.....AMAZING....
I've never seen such a wonderful performance by a violinist. I was flawed with her perfection.

It's been far too long since I've gone to an orchestral concert and I was very pleased to be enjoying this again. I'm going to have to try and go again once I get a job. It's just they are very expensive for good seats...and bad ones in the Opera House are BAD!
As a violinist I performed in orchestras at the Sydney Opera house and here (the Sydney Town hall) but this was over 10 years ago...
Brings back memories though...being in the depths of the townhall with the bagpipers .....resonance anyone???

Never learnt violin; played piano and I have "sung" at the Melbourne Concert Hall.

We've been attending a number of concerts in the last year, not necessarily for the MSO.

The one and only James Morrison.

Guitar Maestro, Ricardo Gallen.

We've also gone to see the Idea of North in concert a few times; plus a couple of musicals.


Glad you had a nice day out ....and once you've had congee with the Century Egg...you'll never go back to Chicken Soup!

A churchy friend of mine has met and sort of 'knows' Morrison. He's played in some of their concerts. A great chap apparently.

As for the congee...I gotta say it was lovely. It wasn't especially cold but it was raining on and off today so it was the right weather...and I did enjoy it.
