Wow, $160 just on cheese? What kinds of cheese did he get?!

I don't know. That was the time that Fran and I had gone on a business trip the week before and the Monday we were supposed to leave she was taken to the hospital with pneumonia. She stayed until Saturday (when he cooked the lunch) and we flew home Sunday (landed just as intermission for the concert started). I was bummed because we performed a tune that I had wanted to play for 10 years and I didn't get to play it, but thank god she came through OK.

Although a month later we had a much worse scare. However it was that first hospitalization that made me realize we had to get married (life is so short) so there was a silver lining (athought I was sweating bullets while she was in the hospital the 2nd time). The one within six weeks after the first stint with pneumonia she was back in the hospital and even worse! :scared1: Our Dr. kept telling me she was going to be OK, but she was on a ventilator for two weeks. We both think she had some brain damage from that because she can not formulate simple words sometimes, and often times she comes up with the wrong ones. It totally throws me when she asks for the Paper clip, when she means stapler. :lmao: But we deal with it!

Back to the original question, I guess he got all the cheese at Whole Paychecks, and he was feeding 40 people, but it was all organic and there are a few people who still rave about his Mac & Cheese. I'll try to take some Food Porn tomorrow if I remember. I think the Balsamic chicken and Potato Salad came out good. Although the chicken is my "honey I really don't feel like cooking anything tonight" chicken. It's the easiest recipie I know! :rotfl2: The tortellini salad I literally found via google at the grocery store.

We are mayo based salad people and this other guy is much more into vinegars and stuff, so who knows if folks will like our stuff, the Potato salad is very southern and traditional, the Chinese Chicken Salad is just that and the Tortellini Salad is Sour Cream based, so deal with it folks!

I'll let you know how much we come home with! :lmao:

I'm exhausted without knowing why....might be from reading all about your cooking and your previous experiences with Fran!

I have to go take a shower soon and then go to bed. I was going to be slightly scumy, but then I cleaned out the fan in front of my recliner chair and got covered in fan ick. Even the interior cracks of my elbows had dusty yuck in them so I decided since I'm the head chef tomorrow, it would make better PR if I was cleanly showered presenting lunch rather than grungy yucky.

Hey and I figured out (at least this is what I am telling myself) the reason I am covered in spider bites is because we have been cleaning out the garage and not they have been pursuing me and attacking me in my sleep. The welts only started showing up once we starting delving deep into the garages, so it makes sense. Makes me feel better too. Although I wish the knowlege would make the itching stop!

OMG! Today was insane. I went to the Chiro at 9:30AM so he could fix my twisted ankle that I got yesterday. However, we still had issues with our banner being hung over the stage and with the holiday weekend coming today was the last day to handle it, so I was on the phone leaving messages for like 1/2 an hour after I fininshed the Chiro appt. Since I'd done all I could I went on to get the remaining chicken I needed plus the potatoes and other stuff for the salad.

As I'm checking out, the guy from the city calls me, so I have to be rude to the cashier and take the call becuase if I don't, I might not get the banner hung. Then I have to meet the guy in 45 minutes to get the banner hung. Fran hasn't gotten out of bed yet, so I go home get her dressed, feed the cats, feed us (maybe or I think I did that after the banner) and go to meet the banner guy. 45 minutes later, I set her up with the potatoes a peeler, trash can and bowl of water to put them in as she cuts and peels them. I go pick up the cleaning lady.

Fran goes to the bank and to pick up coupon books that we give out (at the concert for $5+ donations) and other errands. Darcy and I make the eggs, cook the potatoes, season the chicken, she cleans up the kitchen as I mess it up. We get most everything done as Fran gets back, and then load up the car, but Fran finds a perfect parking spot near the concert location so I go pick her up so we have a parking spot reserved for the 4th of July. We'll trade cars that morning once we have the other all loaded with equipment.

Darcy and I finish the loading of the car including the coolers with enough soda and stashing ice from the ice machine. I take her home, but I'm still on a mission to find a good tortellini salad. No go. So my trusty smartphone and cooks.com finds a decent recipe and it's 8PM and I have to make 3 lbs of tortellini salad, plus finish cooking the 20 lbs of chicken and feed the cats and HAVE DINNER.

Well all that is left is to feed the cats, and take a shower. I'm just waiting for the hot water to come back since Fran took her shower. It's about time and then I'll be basking under the water washing off all the nasties that have been attacking me for days.

Here are my two salvations. I don't have to do squat when we get home tomorrow except make sure the perishables get inside and Monday I don't have to get up early. Darcy will be here early Sunday and we have to get ready for Monday, but once she's gone, it will be smooth sailing until Monday! :thumbsup2

Fran did promise me, it would never be boring!

What sort of tortellini is it?

I have a seafood pasta salad that I normally make with penne. Depending on what the filling is, you could try this:

  • Pasta
  • Tuna, large tin in brine or water, drained
  • Seafood extender (or crab stick)
  • Canned Creamed Corn, 1 tin :lmao:
  • Baby Corn, 1 tin drained
  • Mayonnaise, Whole egg variety (non-sweet). The recipe doesn't turn out as well if you use sweet mayonnaise.
  • Salt and Pepper

Cook the pasta as per instructions.
Open all tins (drained as required) and place in a large bowl.
When pasta is cooked, drain and add to the bowl.
Season with salt and pepper.
Add the whole egg mayonnaise to taste.

You can serve this warm or cold. It will refrigerate and I have used the micro to heat the leftovers for lunch.

Acually we have one complete vegetarian in the band, I hope he's not a vegan (as I said Jim has done the lunches for a couple years), but it's a cheese tortellini and I added cucumber, celery, green onions, sour cream, mayo, cider vinegar and sugar. Along with a little salt and pepper. I'll mix up some of the Chinese Chicken Salad without Chicken, just to be nice, but not because I like the guy, only to not appear vindictive and not offer enough vegetarian entrees. He's a super winer and has already talked about Fran and I behind our backs, he just didn't know our friend Arline mwas sitting there listening to him. We really don't like him, but have to be nice since it's a volunteer group and have to take what we can get.

Had your DH been in the band I would have acutally tailored an entree to be sure he had something to eat, but this buffoon. I don't care if he eats or not, I just don't want it to appear that I am negligent toward his needs even though I don't give a flying F**K. :lmao:

OK, it's very late and I need to get to bed since Fran has set the alarm for less than 4 1/2 hours from now. The good news is that we can be slouches once we get home and there is day inbetween the rehearsal and concert. Darcy will come at 9AM Sunday and I get her to feed the kids and do all the icky things while we get dressed and get up. Then we'll get ready for the concert.

But for now I have to go to bed. It's late and rehearsal is early!

Not in bed, still lasting but fading fast myself! I'll probably be in bed soon. :rotfl2:

Headache, tired from heat, and so badly want to just jump into a bucket of ice or something. Too hot :(

Currently in the low 50's here; with a top not exceeding 58 today. I could do with a bit of warmth.

If I could, I'd send the heat to you. It's oppressively hot today. I'm watching baseball with my parents and thinking about going back up to my bedroom, which is air conditioned.
