YEAH! That is what I was thinking of. I had a friend that was huge into a movie critic that always recommened independent films, and would come up with lots of quirky stuff.

I like seeing French films....

But I went to see a Chinese movie the other day.....Don't Go Breaking My Heart. It was spoken in Mandarin and Cantonese, set in Hong Kong and the Chinese actors were cute....real cute.

But the plot and storyline was pure Hollywood. It was soooo corny it would have fitted into a can of Canned Creamed Corn. ;)

Do you speak French? I watched La Haine, and it was way too ethnic for me to get the accent on most of the words.

Persephone(sp) was better.

It's a Hollywood film good, and a chinese film you could expect to be low budget?

I speak kitchen Cantonese, Bahasa Indonesian and a bit of Spanish....and English. Don't speak French...except for maybe a dozen words....baguette, cafe, brioche, gateau....

Haven't seen either of those two movies. The last French film I caught was 8 Women. I used to love watching Emanuealle Beart...such a beautiful looking woman.

Chinese films are usually quite good; especially when Kung Fu action is involved. This particular one, however....:sad2:

Wow the outfits they wore in the begining phew! They were a great group. But the two women never got along.

Persepolis I think that's right. It was animated.

The reason I mentioned that is because 'Big in Japan" is a reference to being second rate. While Japan and Germany had big markets if you weren't big in England or the US you hadn't really made it in music.

:scratchin I don't know about not having really made it in music with the English or US market.

 You take England and US and I'll take India and China. :rolleyes1

Wasn't it very Karma Chameleon? :sad2:

Did we really dig that kind of music? (Don't speak too soon...that style might come back next year!)

My DH likes watching films that are out of the ordinary. I just look at him and shake my head.:rotfl2:

Persepolis....::yes:: I wanted to go see that one. But I missed it. Must see if I can get a copy....somehow. Catherine Denueve, wasn't it?

I though it was just ok. Can you use netflix there? And stream the movies?
