I really don't like stand up comedy. I DO laugh, but never for the whole time, at every joke, like most people do. I usually get bored. I laugh more at improv-type of jokes and humor... when it happens on the spot, not when it was written and rehearsed.
very bittersweet for me. My dh took me out because I needed a night out since my Dad was very sickly in the hospital. I was having a good time until the comedian mentioned his age. He was the same age as my Dad. It really hit me that my Dad would never be *normal* again and it killed my good mood for that evening.
I've gone to a local comedy club a lot and I love it. I don't sit close to the front though. If the comic can see you he or she will probably make fun of you about something.
Oh you know what? I saw Robin Williams before his heart attack, in February about two years ago. He was hilarious. Did a long stretch about our recent hurricane.
We saw Jeff Dunham at the Prudential Center (arena) in Newark. Loved it! Wasn't so sure about the huge venue, but the sound was great and they had a few big screens.
Jerry Seinfeld at Catch A Rising Star in NYC He was really funny and we enjoyed it. But he asked to borrow my pen to sign autographs and he never gave it back. This was in 1988.
Went to "The Comedy Store" in LA in March and never laughed so hard for so long in my life. Don't know who the comedians were though.
I would love to see another live comedy show again. Anything good in Boston or NYC?
