DD called me yesterday morning all upset. She thought she had a piece of spinach stuck between her front teeth. She tried flossing to get it out and when she pulled the floss out her one front tooth cracked and chipped right between the front teeth. :sad2: She asked me to try to get her in with the dentist. I called yesterday and they said they could see her this morning so she is on her way up. And, naturally, she can't afford a trip to the dentist. But even DH agreed that we need to help her out on this one. If it was a back tooth I'd tell her to get it pulled, but with a front tooth it's different.

I know we said we wouldn't/shouldn't help her out anymore - but....

What do you guys think? Did we do right on this one??
Well...since you asked, JMHO, she should pay you back...either by paying $ back to you or she and her DH working off what they owe...I hear you have a lot of remodeling going on and could probable use two sets of young hands for a weekend or two ;) my feeling is that if it isn't important enough to her to work off the cost of fixing the tooth, it isn't important enough for you to work to pay of the cost of fixing her tooth.

good point...
my leg hurts...
i got a bee sting...
i haven't had one of those in a while...
i forgot how much that they hurt...

Kelly...as someone who has had many, many sunburns....this is my favorite product in the spray form:

i like to just lay down after i get sunburnt with the aloe on my often-times burnt back...

hi everyone!...
i AM a teenager, so i would know what we eat...
my brother and three of his friends one time single-handedly ate a Beast pizza(Here is what the website from Snappy Tomato says about it: More than 6 pounds of Mouthwatering Flavor! Serves 8-10 adults.)...
that is a lot of pizza for 4 kids!...
but hey, these are no ordinary kids...
they were all like 17...

I think my three boys could handle that! :lmao:

 wow! I can see her being upset about that!!! I chipped a tiny piece off my front tooth (you can't tell when looking at it) and I cried for 2 days.

She was really upset. She came by work today after she went to the dentist to show me the results. She ended up have a cavity in the back of both of her front teeth. They filled both and then did something similar to a filling to fill in where it cracked off instead of cap. They look great!

I can totally understand why you guys are helping her out

Thanks. I get to where I doubt myself sometimes. But I'm glad we did help her out on this.

 you're a lot harder on yourself sometimes then other people are on you. BUT I do agree that she needs to either pay you guys back or work it off somehow

You are a wonderful mom! NEVER forget that:hug:

She "says" she fully intends to pay us back. I honestly don't care, though, because when she was younger and needed a lot done to her teeth we couldn't afford it. When she was in third grade she was running downhill and ran into the back of someone's head and knocked both front teeth loose. They wired them for a few months but told us she really needed to get braces to straighten the front teeth back and we just couldn't afford it at the time. Then when we could afford it she was older, more self-conscious about braces and into music (clarinet) and braces would have been rough with her music so she didn't want them. The dentist did tell her today that her major problem for why this tooth cracked is because of the pressure the other front tooth put on it because of the way they overlap. So, in a way I feel that if we had been able to get it taken care of when she was younger she wouldn't have this problem now.

As far as paying back - if she does it with money fine...but I can't see her and her new DH paying us back by helping around here. Right now, I can't see DH and her new DH even in the same room together yet! :lmao:

We'll definitely go with the $$ pay back and not working it off! ;)

Thanks!

This is one time I feel really good to be able to help her out!

I just got back from the monthly FD business meeting. I never thought I could be moved to tears at a business meeting...

A.J. has been wanting to join the FD. We had talked to the chief around Christmas time and he told us to get an application when we were sure A.J. really wanted to do this. A.J. has been driving us nuts the past two months because he really wants to do this. So, tonight DH and I went to the meeting a little early to talk to the chief. We told him that A.J. was ready join but instead of bringing A.J. to the meeting we wanted the chief to talk to the other members and the board of directors first. If anyone had any objections or concerns we wanted them to feel able to voice their concerns without A.J. being there to hear it.

The chief spoke to the board president before he brought it up at the meeting and they both spoke at the meeting. The chief explained that A.J. wanted to join, explained that A.J. would need extra help and asked if anyone had any concerns or any problems with the idea of A.J. joining. No one said anything. Both the board president and the chief said that if anyone did have any concerns they needed to address one of them this week, but I don't think anyone will say anything.

Then the chief said that he just wanted to add a few things above and beyond the FD "business" aspect of this decision. He said that A.J. joining the department would mean that everyone would have to help him out and be willing to train him and give him extra help when needed. Naturally, A.J. will not be put in a position of actual firefighting, at least not for a long while, but he will be a support person and he (the chief) really wants everyone to make an effort to make sure A.J. is part of the commaradere. He said he knows what a great young man A.J. is and he feels that with patienceon the part of the members, A.J. can learn a lot about firefighting and be an important part of the department. And then he said that it was an oppotunity for the firefighters to learn some very valuable lessons from A.J.... about patience, friendship and love!

Seems there is a load of laundry calling me....fold me, fold me. :lmao: So, I guess I need to fold and put away the laundry then I'm heading to bed!

But for not let's not forget that I AM LAST!

Kids like AJ can teach people a lot. They are loving, kind and caring and don't get caught up in the world of garbage.
