I've stockpiled for about 5 years or so. I had been sick and out of work and there wasn't much $$ for groceries and the pantry was looking very empty! But at least we had the deep freeze. Then we had a snowstorm and power was out for over 72 hours and we lost almost everything in the deep freeze! It wasn't fun. Ever since then I have stockpiled...just in case!
that didn't sound fun! Last hurricane season we bought a small generator...enough to keep a fridge and our freezer cold. This year I am feeling somewhat more prepared...but, I need to go through our kits and check batteries...just to make sure noone borrowed stuff :rolleyes: I think I will do it at the end of May.

anther family gave us a bunch of fish...so I will be cooking that this weekend :teeth:

Do you keep your freezer full? I learned the hard way that if your freezer is completely full the food will stay frozen longer. So now I keep milk jugs full of water in the bottom of the freezer if the freezer isn't actually full of food. (You probably don't need this hint now that you have a generator, though! :teeth: )

I learned about the freezer being full from DH...it saves money on electricity too. We used to do the milk jugs when DH went fishing more with his family (they use the ice to keep the fish cool while they are out in deep sea)...but right now between my stockpiling, hunting, freezer cooking and the fish we got last night it is full :rotfl: heaven help me if I need something from the bottom :worried:

At first DH wasn't too sure about the stockpiling method (I think he was overwhelmed) :rotfl: but, that he sees the benefits he thinks it is great :teeth:

eeewwww :crazy: I guess you don't eat fish from there either :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I used to go a lot...when I was younger...most every weekend. Now-a-days we usually try to go every weekend or every other weekend with the kids...usually from around April to October it is nice and hot and the water is calmer at the place we go... :sunny: the place we go is about 30-45 minutes from my home too.

ewwww!!! NEVER!! I don't eat any seafood actually b/c all the seafood around here comes from the gulf and it's all brown!

:) I think I have never rode in a limo...If I had the money and all my family went to WDW, I would love to get a hummer to pick us up...one of those black ones...maybe one day I can do it for my grandchildren :)
)

For DHs 30th birthday I rented a limo. We were living in the city in FL but we were wanting to move to the country. So I packed this elaborate picnic lunch and had the limo drive us about 75 north to Pasco County to "the country!" Then when we went back to town we went to the police station where he worked so he could see all his buddies. I had packed wine coolers and by the time we got to the station he was pretty "happy." :lmao:

It was a white stretch limo!

yuck! when my DBIL (or other family/friends) go fishing we eat it RAW and it is so yummy. When I was preggers I wouldn't eat raw fish...and I don't eat it at parties...but DH will eat his share and mine :lmao:

Well, I'm heading off to bed. But I'm not leaving because of any smells, Tracy! :lmao:

Lyn - Hope you have a great "date night!"

Tracy - Have a great night!

See you ladies in the morning!
