I have never in my life had a fake tree. Can't start now.

Yes, we go to a tree farm and pick out the tree and they cut it down for us. My DH knows the owner of one of the farms nearby and he actually has all the trees planted way up on a hill. So you get to go on a hay ride to get up to the trees. Then you can walk around and find just the right tree. DH always laughs at me 'cause I'll pick one, and then change my mind, and then change my mind again and then after about a dozen trees I end up back at the first one!

Wow. That sounds like fun. We drive to Home Depot to get ours. I guess we could part far away and hike in.

yeah that was what we were gonna get, I actually looked like a real tree, but it's just not the same!

We used to have a fake tree when we lived down in FL. That is just what I had grown up with. But now, living up here, we'll never have a fake one again. There were some years where we could barely afford a real tree and we ended up with a Charlie Brown tree! But I'd rather have a real Charlie Brown tree than a fake big tree!

Gee, the lights are half the fun...getting the strings of lights unpacked, trying to get the knots out of the chords, finding that one light is burned out so the whole string doesn't work...

you know what Kath, that is so true! I remember one year when I was like 9 or 10, we were really bad off, and didn't have much extra money at all. Well we went to the tree place and could only afford the charlie brown special, but we still loved it. We couldn't even afford a tree stand so my mom filled a huge pot with dirt and we "planted" the tree. I was soooo surprised it stayed and didn't fall over

ugh! the lights drive me crazy! & I never put them on tree, real or fake. When I do I get all itchy and get little bumps all up and down my arm

Isn't it amazing how we keep those kinds of memories?? We had about 5 years where money was so tight we couldn't afford hardly anything! But those are some of our best holiday memories! Proves money isn't everything!
