Hello all. Last night around 9:00pm, I hit a deer. I was on my way home from a music rehearsal, and a deer (it was a big buck) ran out in front of me without hesitation. He went up on my hood and then ran away (I'm surprised it was still alive- I hit him hard). Thankfully I was on the phone with my husband at the time (I probably scared him to death) so he and his father left to come get me. When I composed myself to get out of the car, my door was pretty well dented, so it was hard to open. I managed to open it enough to get out, and while i was doing that, a few people drove up to make sure I was ok. There are some really nice people in the world. I told them that my husband and father in law were on the way, so they drove away. I called my dad as well (luckilly, we all live in the same suburb). While on the phone with him, 2 different men drove up and stayed with me until the police came. One was a business man and one was a hunter. They were both really nice. I am thankful they came up to make sure I was ok. They examined my car and looked for the deer. Then the police came, then my dad, then my husband and father in law. I was driving my 2006 Scion xA (only 6000 miles on it :sad2:). For those of you that know, it's a small car. But my airbags did go off, but I was far enough away from the steering wheel and had my seatbelt and puffy coat on, so I don't even think I touched the airbag. I don't even have any bruises- which is amazing if you'd see my car. We were able to push it to a nearby autobody shop. I'm taking off work today to try to get everything taken care of. I am very very very lucky that I'm ok. There were angels watching over me last night!

Please be careful if you live in an area with deer. In a split second, you could be a victim like me, and could end up much worse. I am incredibly lucky that I wasn't hurt. BE CAREFUL!

Sorry to hear about you accident but glad you are alright. we have the same problem where we live but we also have to watch out for moose, drove across the lower section of Maine and into White mountains of New Hampshire this past weekend at night in the rain and was really keeping an eye out. I moose will really ruin your day if you live to tell about it.

Again glad you had nice people around and family close by

I soooo feel for you!! I hit a huge doe on my way to work yesterday.. I was comming over a hill at about 65 -70 mph and there was 5!!! just standing there.. they didnt move.. I hit a huge one and threw her onto the side of the road on the opposite side.. That was the scarriest thing that has ever happened.. I pulled over and tried to get myself together.. I was full out crying and shakeing.. and called my hubby to come get me.. My hood was all crunched and my head lights broke.. AND NO ONE STOPPED TO SEE IF I WAS OK!!! can u believe that.. at least 100 cars went by... so needless to say I was a wreck driving to work this morning! So yes be very careful they are bad right now... Are you doing ok?

Im glad you were ok.

One time a hornet or two were in our car. We stopped and pulled over to let it out. But a really nice guy stopped and asked if we had car troubles. Anyway there is some really nice peeps out there.

HUgs to you and I know I would be shaking for days. It is my worse fear and we have many around here as there are lots of woods... once hunting season starts, not sure when that is, I am vigilant about driving slower and keeping my eyes open..
