Hello all. Last night around 9:00pm, I hit a deer. I was on my way home from a music rehearsal, and a deer (it was a big buck) ran out in front of me without hesitation. He went up on my hood and then ran away (I'm surprised it was still alive- I hit him hard). Thankfully I was on the phone with my husband at the time (I probably scared him to death) so he and his father left to come get me. When I composed myself to get out of the car, my door was pretty well dented, so it was hard to open. I managed to open it enough to get out, and while i was doing that, a few people drove up to make sure I was ok. There are some really nice people in the world. I told them that my husband and father in law were on the way, so they drove away. I called my dad as well (luckilly, we all live in the same suburb). While on the phone with him, 2 different men drove up and stayed with me until the police came. One was a business man and one was a hunter. They were both really nice. I am thankful they came up to make sure I was ok. They examined my car and looked for the deer. Then the police came, then my dad, then my husband and father in law. I was driving my 2006 Scion xA (only 6000 miles on it
). For those of you that know, it's a small car. But my airbags did go off, but I was far enough away from the steering wheel and had my seatbelt and puffy coat on, so I don't even think I touched the airbag. I don't even have any bruises- which is amazing if you'd see my car. We were able to push it to a nearby autobody shop. I'm taking off work today to try to get everything taken care of. I am very very very lucky that I'm ok. There were angels watching over me last night!
Please be careful if you live in an area with deer. In a split second, you could be a victim like me, and could end up much worse. I am incredibly lucky that I wasn't hurt. BE CAREFUL!
