Last Night - Cali Grill or Ohana? Please vote!

Last night at WDW... Where would you eat?

  • California Grill - it's all about the outstanding views (& food too)!

  • Ohana - it means family, after all (& there's yummy bread pudding too!)

Originally, when we had the basic DP, I scheduled an ADR at Ohana for our last night at WDW -thinking that would be a nice way to end our vacation. However, we recently upgraded to the DxDP, and I've scheduled an ADR for Cali Grill for the evening before our last night - because that's where it "fit" best. And now I'm wondering if I should try to switch the two.

Following is our current schedule for the last 2 days of our WDW vacation:

Sunday, 6/22 - AK day/MK evening

Breakfast - Roaring Forks
Lunch - Flame Tree BBQ
Dinner - California Grill

Monday, 6/23 - EPCOT morning/MK afternoon & evening

Breakfast - Roaring Forks
Lunch - Coral Reef
Dinner - Ohana

On Sunday night (6/22), after dinner, we plan to go into the MK for rides, etc. On Monday (6/23), after dinner, we plan to go into the MK for one more viewing of Wishes. W/ 2 kids, we eat dinner earlier - all of our dinner ADRs are between 5:30 & 6:00 pm, so I'm not necessarily interested in viewing Wishes from either restaurant.

If I can, should I try to switch Ohana & California Grill? (At this late date, I'm not sure I'll be able to get another ADR for Ohana.) We've eaten at Ohana before, & this will be our 1st time at Cali Grill.

In your opinion, which one (Cali Grill or Ohana) is the best dinner to end your WDW vacation with? I'd love to end our vacation w/ an absolutely wonderful dining memory with an evening of Wishes in the MK.

Thanks so much!!

You are comparing apples to oranges. Both are good restaurants but Cali Grill is more upscale. Ohana will be much more " kid oriented". Ohana is much louder and busier. If you are going into MK with either place, I would chose California Grill for a last night treat. It is really a great place. Either way, have a wonderful time.:)

I have found O'hana to be less appealing each visit over the past few years. So much so that it used to be a staple of our WDW vacation (at least one or two visits per trip) and this summer, we are NOT returning.

Service has gone down and the food quality just isn't the same.

California Grill however is one of the best at WDW, albeit a pricey dinner, it is worth the price.

Cheers,
Josh

We really enjoyed Cali Grill on our last trip. Food and service were excellent. We couldn't see the fireworks well from where we were seated. But still worth it just to see the beautiful view of the sunset.

We were very underimpressed with the food at O'Hanas. Just looked over or under-cooked to us. I actually didn't eat any of the meat on skewers I wound up taking a few bites of my son's grilled cheese:laughing: I would say definitely do CG it you will not regret it :thumbsup2

Thanks for the advice!

I decided to try & switch Ohana & Cali Grill; however, when I called, the only opening for Ohana was at 9:10 pm - too late for us.

So, right now, I have to keep it the way it is, I suppose. Which to my DH is perfectly fine... he can't understand me going back & forth w/ our ADRs anyway. :rotfl:

I might try calling again - just to see if there is a cancellation - but, w/ my luck, if there is an opening for Ohana there probably won't be a corresponding opening for Cali Grill. :rolleyes1

I've had our main ADRs since December, but we shouldn't have waited to the last minute to upgrade to the DxDP - because that's caused me to completely rethink our ADR plan.

But, hey, we're going to Disney! :cool1:
