Last Movie You See Before You Die

Some of you may know that I am a hospice nurse. My job allows me the great privilege to be with people in their final days. Sometimes we don't get there in time, to share in those last few moments, but we are called to pronounce and prepare the patient for the funeral home.

This may sound morbid to some, but for me its an honor.

A few days ago I was sent to pronounce a woman who had died in her sleep. As I was attending to her, I noticed a DVD box on top of her TV. It was "All About Steve" something struck me about that.

Now I've seen "All About Steve", and truthfully didn't find it to be as bad as some made it out to be. But as I drove home something was on my mind...

As a movie lover, would I be happy if "All About Steve" was the last movie I ever saw?

What movie would you like to be in your DVD player the night you die?

I hope its one of my favorites, like "The Way We Were", or "The Full Monty"

first off--thank you for doing the job you do! Hospice has been a huge blessing in my family.
My favorite movie of all time is Chocolat (with Johnny Depp). I would love it if that was what my last movie was. or Elf --we quote that movie all the time.
I hope that it is something that my family can look at and say, yup that would be something she would watch and would bring a smile to their faces.

I think that when you're dead you won't care much what the last movie you saw was.

Some people think that when you're dead, that's it. You're just gone. No part of you exists on any plane. So, you wouldn't be around to care.

Other people think that you do continue to exist. If so, you can watch more movies...and it won't have been your last.

Either way, I don't think we'll care.

Assuming that on my last day of life I'm still able to watch and enjoy movies, I'd like it to be one I haven't seen...and one that I like. Might as well have new experiences as long as I can!

First let me just say "Thank You" - Hospice has helped my family several times. Your work is so important . . .

Now on to my movies:

For the hope"ful" romantic in me - I'd have to say either "Sleepless in Seattle", "you've got mail" or "Casablanca"

For the inner child - "Harry Potter & the Socerers stone" wide-eyed innocense gets me everytime

For the Disney lover - "Sleeping Beauty" just for one of the best villains ever created; "Fantasia" because Walt knew eventually we would get it; any one of the "Pirate" movies just for pure fun.

There are just so so many - I don't know how I could begin to choose the "LAST ONE"

My ex-wife recently passed away and was under hospice care at her sister’s home. The caretakers did a wonderful job taking care of her and your work like theirs is appreciated by the families. It would be tough to pick what my last movie would be. So many classics to choose from. Maybe “It’s a wonderful life.” That or just watching home movies.

Its probably got to be Up for me... there's so many great moments and a great message, especially if I was watching it with someone else. Theres also now a fair amount of jokes and moments between my friends and I all relating to that film.

Yea, a slideshow, movie clips, etc of "the old days", because I plan to live to about 100.

OK, I'm not crying. I have something in my eye.

For me, I would want to be looking thru the tons of picture I have of family, friends, vactions and other things and reflect on how I lived my life and be grateful for the life I had.

I'd like to start by saying thank you as well, hospice was a great help to my family at the end of my grandmother's life.

As far as the last movie I'd want to see before I die, I was going to say Enchanted, but I think I'd rather it be Little Mermaid, since that was also the first movie I saw, at least in theaters. I think it would be a nice way to kind of bookend my life.
