I got this crazy idea to go on a last minute trip. I am thinking about going in about two weeks. Is the middle of June crazy? I am assuming so since the resorts seem to be fairly booked up. Has anyone planned a last minute trip? Any tips? I was only thinking of going 3 or 4 days. I was just there in March so this may be just temporary insanity!! Thanks!! :sunny:

Not crazy at all, but if you are planning on staying on-site you may have a problem. I tried earlier this month to get a room onsite and just about everything except the most expensive rooms were booked. When I found that out I realized I didn't want to be down there with the crowds. :)

Good luck!

We happened across one of the Engineering of Disney travel specials they're always showing on cable channels and looked at each other and said "we should take Jaycie (our daughter, then 2). This was New Years Eve day. Since I was already 7 months pregnant, we didn't want to delay too much and really didn't want to do Disney with a newborn. We planned our trip for January 17-23 (a little more than two weeks) with no problem.

Grant it, we did travel during value season so I'm sure avalibility was greater then. We stayed at POP Century and were able to get an adjoining room with my in-laws. If you can be flexible with your plans then go for it!

If you were just there in March you're probably not suffering temporary insanity -- just a Disney high! We know this well!

Good luck!

I am definitely in need of a Disney pick me up. I have had a rough year including my husband filing for divorce without telling me for reasons I still don't know. The week I am thinking about going would have been our anniversary. I was feeling sad so I thought what better place to cheer me up then Disney!! Any excuse to go right? :rotfl:

There is availability at AKL which is more then I would usually spend but I have always wanted to stay there. Depending on the dates there looks to be some availability at the moderates. Now to see if I can convince my poor college student brother to join me!

we did it last year. we had gone to disney for 3 weeks total at easter (1 week at vero disney, 2 weeks at WDW), and after being home for not even 2 months, dh came home from a very stressful day at work and said during dinner "how about going to disney again?"... my reply was jumping on the phone to CRO and making ressies! (didn't want to waste a moment!). we went the end of june into july (a 2 week trip)... we only had 3 weeks to plan... we got the rooms we wanted on-site, and got adr's. it was very hot, but very enjoyable. we mainly did parks early mornings or nighttime, and swam all day. It was my favorite trip we've taken! i say go for it!!!! in the summer, you just take it slower, take many water-breaks and swim a lot! it's awesome and i'd go back in the summer in a heartbeat! oh, and my dh LOVED the afternoon showers (i still can't really figure out why, but it was his favorite part of the trip i think). LOL! So go for it!!

I say go for it you deserve it. :grouphug: and i am sorry about your problems how frustrating. and u know what even if your brother can't go, go alone. check out the trip report form, there are quite a few reports from those who travel solo.

go for it. and have a great time, and enjoy the splurge!

With the exception of my honeymoon, all my trips were last minute trips. I booked everything and within a month & 1/2 was going to WDW. It's doable!

Have fun!

Go for it, especially if there is AKL availability! We did a last minute trip last November and our choices were Pop Century or some $1,000/night suite in Cont. We went w/ Pop...and won't do it again!

just wanted to add 'sorry' for what your husband did to you. I have to say though... going to disney w/ your brother or alone might be just what you need! Kind of like a preview to your new life... making decisions on your own w/out asking someone else's 'permission' or getting an 'ok'...

really... i say go for it!! and unless money isn't an issue at all, i'd say book a moderate so you're not fretting about the cost - you're just enjoying yourself. buy yourself something really nice to remember your first independent trip!

Good luck to you!

My June 10th through 11th weekend is last minute. It's great just picking up and leaving.

I also have a question for juligrl. Were you able to handle disney being 7 months pregnant and all? My DW is 8 months pregnant and we are planning a weekend there.

Thanks so much for all of the encouragement!!! I always had to drag the husband to Disney so it would be so fun to not have to argue about everything. I have never traveled anywhere myself so it is sort of scary but 4 days seems to be a good amount of time. Money is somewhat of an issue but I should have my divorce settlement soon so this maybe a good way to celebrate! Now just to convince my family I am not crazy. They don't get the whole Disney thing. It is very annoying!! :teeth:
