Last-minute trip--Where would You stay??

Just got $49 tix from PHL to MCO, so we're going May 11-15!

I have never done one of these last-minute trips, but I've also never gotten such a good deal on flights, so I just couldn't pass it up (and it's DH's and my 10th anniversary, so that was another good excuse! )

So, now I have to call MS tomorrow morning to see what's available. BCV is our home resort and we've never stayed anywhere else. We're going for a studio since it's a short visit and we will eat up all our points otherwise. (We have an upcoming trip in November to the Poly, and maybe the AKV at the end if we can get in. . .)

I know we'll have to take what we get, but what would Your order of preference be? We are DH, me, DD8 and DD6.

Don't think May is a last minute trip, you will be OK. Yes those $49 flights are great. I booked also today May 13 thru the 21st.

Post back and tell us what is available- I just booked SSR for the week before that. That and OKW was all that was available for studios.

MS said there was still a "lot" of availability left for OKW. (May 11-15)

BWV, BCV and VWL all had the first two nights available (Fri and Sat), but that was all.

You're right, byoung, May is not a last-minute trip, but for us (usually booking in Dec for Nov), it is!!!

Think we'll try OKW. What building do you request if you want to be near the main pool??

We booked two weeks ago for that time period and got a studio at OKW no problem. This is our first DVC stay, and we'll be coming to WDW off the 4 Day Wonder. Maybe we should arrange a meet if anyone is interested?

By the way, if you are a 60-s-70's music fan, during the Flower and Garden show at Epcot from May 11-13 Davy Jones of the Monkees will be performing at the American Garden theater. There are other neat performers before and after, but it's Davy Jones I want to see. I still have every Monkees LP!

Since I don't know your personal preferences or what the goal of you trip is, I can't tell you where to stay, but I will tell where you will probably have to stay: SSR or OKW. And if you wait too much longer to book, it may only be SSR.

As for my opinion, I would want to stay in this order:

VWL
BCV
OKW
SSR

SSDonut- 1 thing to keep in mind- for the 2 of you in the studio at OKW you will not have a sofa- might make relaxing in the room a little more difficult.

yea the studio at OKW have 2 queen beds.

ssr has the queen bed and double sleeper sofa - like the others.

you want to be near the main pool.

since you are flying - I am assuming you will using DME and won't get a car rental.

then building 11-14 will be fine, also building 62-64 (these are the only ones with an elevator).

now if you have a car - this place can get so crowded....

Oh then I would recommend building 23-26.
